Angling Guru Alan Fong wins first round of “Fish & Chips” Outdoor Poker Challenge!

LINCOLN Ca. - The first qualifying round of the Thunder Valley Outdoors “Fish & Chips” Outdoor Poker Challenge is in the books crowning its first champion of the series. Alan Fong, lure designer and general manager of the Fisherman’s Warehouse in Sacramento, remained as cool as the other side of the pillow, as his bluff on the very last hand, crushed the final player (Jimmy Walker of Sacramento), to capture a $500 first prize purse, and the victory in this 3rd annual event.

“At the beginning I simply couldn’t get any good cards”, noted Alan. I was getting pretty frustrated, and then the tide – like in fishing, started to turn, and I was able to put some good hands together”.

All participants of this event also all received custom shirts commemorating this 1st round qualifying event, and were able to participate in a special FREE raffle that included lots of rods, reels, tackle, Cocoons sunglasses, tickets to the upcoming STYX concert at Thunder Valley Casino/Resort, along with a drawing for an 8-hour unlimited stop tour of the Napa Valley in a luxury limousine, courtesy of Destiny Wine Tours!

The top 20 finishers from this 1st qualifying round will automatically move onto the grand championship which will be held November 1st at Thunder Valley Casino/Resort, where they will join the top 20 finishers from the next qualifying round (to be held on Oct 3rd), to compete in a NO BUY-IN Grand Championship final for over $10,000 in cash and prizes!

If you would like to get in on all of the fun, it’s not too late. Call the Anglers Press Offices TODAY and sign up for the LAST qualifying round to get your chance at participating in the Nov 1st NO BUY-IN Outdoor Poker Challenge Grand championship!

(The Outdoor Poker Challenge Grand Championship will take place the day before the Future Pro Tour Classic Championship Celebration dinner – which will also be held at Thunder Valley Casino)

How can the winning hand be a bluff? It's impossible in hold em. if it was the very last hand the guy would have had to put all his chips in and then actually lose the hand. Maybe he tried to bluff, the guy called then Alan outdrew him?

In any case, sounds like a lot of fun!

Tin Can...

Sorry if I screwed the "blow by blow" action up. I don't really know much about the strategy of the game....so you did a much better job at explaining exactly what happened!

Now if it's Old Maid or go fish...then I know what I'm talking about! :)
