prop question

Have a 150 mariner mag efi. Will a 25p fury prop work on this motor? My old prop is 25p but much smaller. To make the fury fit I'll have to grind a few mm off the trim tab. Any advice ?

The Fury is a 14" diameter prop. It sounds a little odd that it does not clear the trim tab. IF you have hydraulic steering you can get away with replacing the trim tab with a flat anode and that will take care of the clearnace issue. There are quite a few things that go into propping a boat correctly. GIve us a call at the shop (530) 275-4939 between 7:30 am and 3:30 pm and we'll see if we can get you going in the right direction.

TB, you won't need ta ask fer anyone in perticular at Phil's, just ask for the Prop Shop tech and which ever one of them is onsite, he'll be able ta help ya!

before you put on that prop, how many rpms are you running @ wide open. it might be too big a wheel for that motor.

A good rule with the Fury is that it runs one size smaller than the Tempest so if you are going to run a 25 Fury it is pretty comparable to the 26 Tempest. I think that is going to be a bit of stretch for a 150 and if it is a Mariner it is an older EFI motor. The really good thing is Phil's will have a prop up there to get you running at your best.

In the good old days when we were all running those motors we were rehubbing the Yamaha props to fit the Merc's. That prop was what the Tempest was built after. We also ran the Laser II props quite a bit back then.

I think you are going to have a tough time swinging a 25 Fury so don't go to a bunch of modifications to get that prop to run and before you get loose with a file on your motor make sure you are running the right hub system for your motor.
