I LOVE my daiwa zillion...But I would love it even more if it weren't for the stock handle. I don't like them much as the knobs are not supported with a bearing and therefore do not spin freely. I believe the zillion would be even more smoother if it had a handle with bearings. I am looking to upgrade to a handle that has ball bearings in the handle knobs for smoother and better retrieves.

Anyone here fish Daiwa Zillions? If so...what handles can you upgrade to?

I also have 2 daiwa lexa 100's. I believe the handle knobs have bearings inside of them as they spin freely. I decided to put one of the lexa 100's handle on my zillion and to my amazement...it FITS. My zillion felt way more smooth and a tad bit faster. I don't know if it will work and hold in the long run so I ended up switching it back. I might just order a lexa handle from Daiwa to replace the stock zillion handles and see how it fishes.

Did anyone upgrade the handle on their zillion to a lexa handle by any chance? Any experience with other handles for zillions?

It is okay to switch handles on a Lexa to Zillion. It will work.

Sometimes, I switch handles on my reel, but if I do it is to switch the Zillion Type R handle (which is carbon fiber) to my Steez. It shaves about a half ounce off the overall weight, making it even lighter.
