of charging the batteries between fishing trips it seems to me it cant be very much like a dollar or two per charge, any one know about how much it costs?

I bet you he doesn't complain when her gets to go fishing with you! Small price to pay to be able to be on the water versus the bank. Just saying...

Rick..

Rick I believe you are not that far off in your estimate . Your cranking battery show be fully charged when you get home so it won't need to be charged . Your trolling batteries charging current will be continually tapering off as they get closer to full charge . I did some rough calculations using 10 amps charging current and came up with 2.4 KWH ( 120 vac x 1 amp = 120 watts x 10 hours charge time = 1200 watt hours) double for two bank charger = 2400 watt hours (2.4 KWH ) A 10 amp rated charger is not putting out 10 amps for the entire charge cycle so this is more than the actual cost to charge .

2.4 KWH @ 15 cents a KWH comes to 37 1/2 cents

Let your buddy know the expense for gas, truck , boat ,oil, maintenance, ins, purchase price of the boat and all the misc cost and tell him you'll pro rate it for his share when going fishin. Buddies like that you can do without and he can fish off the bank.
He's getting off cheap if all he does is let you park and charge the battery.

Tell him you want to fish from his boat next trip, and find another place to store your boat!
