Here is mine:

Weight: 1/8 oz. Quickdrops Sinker

open water: Lamiglas 6.5 foot 4 power (8-12 pound test McCoy), Gamakatsu hook matched to bait, QuickDrops sinkers matched to depth, wind conditions, and retrieve speed, Shimano Stradic 4000.

heavy cover: Lamiglas 7 foot 5 power baitcaster, 16-pound test Sugoi Fluorocarbon, Gamakatsu Live Bait Light Wire (saltwater version of a dropshot hook style with strong wire), 1/2 oz QuickDrop, Shimano Castaic reel.

Mojo Rockhopper weights in whatever size I want to use depending on conditions, mostly 3/16. Just pinch them on with pliers, don't need the whole rockhopper system.

I have a million different dropshot baits that all work, so it really just depends on what forage I want my bait to look like. Anything from 2 1/2 inch paddle tail worms to 10" bulky zipper worms. Mostly just use the 4 1/2" Robos in Aaron's Magic, Oxblood/Red Flake, Hologram Shad, or Margarita Mutilator.

Makes up my "16-year-old-kid" price range dropshot rig.

HEre in Georgia this is my setup.

Rod: MLF St Croix and a P7000 Shikari
Line: Triplefish Fluorocarbon
Bait: 3 inch Cut Tails, GYCB Flat tails and small thin sluggo type baits
Reel: Shimano Biomaster 2000, Daiwa Capricorn 2000
Weights: QuickDrop weights. Mostly 1/4 oz for dropshotting but I use the bigger weights for bed fishing as well.

Also I tie a barrel swivel approximately 24 inches up the line from the hook to avoid line twist.

What flourocarbon is any good ? I take any below 10 lb test and tie a overhand knot, wet it and tighten it and it breaks at about 4 lb pull or less. So I have broke of many fish using flourocarbon. What is best to use, what brand has strength . I have not yet found one i could trust, so i still use mono and braid powerpro ?? Can anyone give me advise on a great flourocarbon that has knot strength ?

Jigs, quit tying overhand knots in your fluorocarbon, and your knot strength problem will go away! LOL.

Really, my preference is to use Sugoi 6 pound test. I use a standard palomar with the tag inserted back into the eye so the hook stands out from the line. If you tie the know correctly, and lubricate it before tightening, and tighten it very slowly and completely, you won't have knot breakage problems. If Sugoi is too expensive, then I recommend another 100% fluorocarbon, like Seaguar available from Cabela's.

Properly tied, fluorocarbon is stronger overall than equivalent diameter mono.

I loaded the boat with nice smallies all weekend using 3/8 ounce and 1/2 ounce QuickDrops, and not a one of them was on a bed! HAR!

(sorry, just couldn't resist dude...you need to throw the big QuickDrops so you can cover more water quickly, with a dropshot rig. It works).

I guess I need to stop being hard headed and try the 3/8 oz now. You successfully got me to go from 3/16th to the 1/4 so you haven't lead me astray yet Maybe those fish were on the bed and you just didn't know it

I use a 6' 6" Medium action Pfluger with a 100 corado mini. No less than 10lb. test flouro. I usually use a 6in. Robo Worm with a 1/4 stick weight.

I have 2 set ups when drop dropshotting
baitcasting outfit: Wade Rods 6'10" drop shot baitcaster
Calcutta 50 reel
Sunline Shooter Fluro in either 7 or 8 pound test
Nogalas hooks for small baits with nose hooking
Re Barb hooks for larger baits and texas rigging
spinning outfit:Wade Rods 6'6" drop shot rod
Shimano stradic reel in the 2000 series
Sunline Shooter fluro in 7 pound test
same hooks
I forgot weights ....I like the mojo pencil weights most times as the do not hang up much in wood or rock.

The reason for 2 outfits is for vertical presentation I like the spinning because it drops straight down to meter marks and I like the baitcaster for most other presentations.
