Trouble Ahead for Lake Berryessa Bass (food supply)

Due to DFW attempt at managing Lake Berryessa as a Kokanee trophy lake (to limit the amount of Kokanee and King Salmon plants in hopes they will grow to a larger size due to less competition for food supply) they have only planted this year 25K Kokanee and 34K kings. As compared to previous years they have planted 200K plants. With this reduced plants the Bass which survive by eating these plants will be severely affected and will starve significantly and if they do survive they will certainly be much smaller. Contact DFW and let them know to stop managing this lake for a trophy lake for Kokanee and plant 200K.

I seriously doubt the bass in the lake will starve if 200k of kokanee/salmon/trout aren't planted. There are enough shad/bluegill/crappie/crawfish to maintain them.

Haha--the Berryessa bass fishery is not dependent on koke plants. Are you a shill for the kicker motor and white shoepeg corn lobbies?

Hahaha another one of those "the sky is falling!" Post (imagine a guy holding that sign at the ramp as you're backing your boat into the lake)

Obviously he's not been on the lake lately to see the sheer amount of food supply in the lake right now...schools of shad are an understatement. This lake is alive and well and has fished unlike any years i've ever seen.

I agree, those fish are not going to stave on less trout plants.
But I would like to see DFG maintain the previous numbers.
There are huge..... pods of bait on that lake in many areas.

Rename that pond: Baitessa Lake
