SCAM ALERT – Boat Sale Fraud
I Mark Lassagne BAM listed my boat for sale, and a buyer immediately reached out, ready to purchase—first red flag. Then, he insisted I provide a HIN (Hull Identification Number) Report and sent me a link to get one.
I did my due diligence and used a reputable company recommended by BoatUS instead. When I sent him the report, he quickly responded, saying I had to use his link—major scam alert!
That link was almost certainly a phishing site designed to steal my personal info. If you're selling a boat, don’t fall for this! Always use trusted sources and never click on suspicious links.

Yeah I had the same exact thing happen to me, they own the site they link you to so they earn money if you buy the garbage or no report found from them. They need to get a life and a real job

I’ve had them contact me twice about buying my boat As soon as I told them I wasn’t interested they got very rude and nasty and told me that I would be sorry.

yep, i posted my boat this morning and this dude named Chris contacted me and says hes coming to buy the boat, Blah, Blah. Then wants my email to have an online car fax for boats made. I knew he was full of crap from the first text. Anyway his number is (201)579-0372.. WATCH out for this scammer!!!

Ya just listed a boat and read this scam alert post before hand and this guy contacted me and I worked him over good. I told him everyone on western bass was talking about him and we were going to turn him in to cyber security of usaid hahaha!

Mark, do you remember which company he said he wanted you to use?
Was it Elite Carfax?

Confirmed Scammer. I received a text from # 949-546-1983. Same situation. Sent me a picture and link for Elite Car Fax. I told him that I already had a plan with Boat US. He claimed that that would not work, and that Elite car Fax has a more detailed report. I am selling a brand new boat. It has never been in the water.
I tried to call the number that the text came from, and it would not go through. I sent him a text back stating that I felt that this was a scam. No Response.

Shocker.
