can I order/install the newer style handle with the ultra comfy grips onto an older green curado bantam? those old school grips hurt my hands after a few hours of cranking... never thought I'd notice the comfort in the newer grips - or is it possible just to replace the grips?

and while I'm at it, is there a longer (grip to grip) version of the handle available? like a little wider ratio if I can get it

The newer handle will work. You will lose the clicking drag feature because there is no slot for the click spring to slide through.

excellent! - I can live without the indexing/click since I'm one of those that tends to crank the drag down - 17lbs max drag on the greenies when they are cranked down isn't it??

is the newer handle wider? if you have a pn and an MSRP for the new handle & nut cap then I'd be even more appreciative !

The citica handle will work too, and it's 20 bucks cheaper and almost identical to the curado handle. Most of the new shimano reels have those soft touch septon style handles. It might be worthwhile looking into cruxis handles and even some of the less expensive reel handles as well. It's tough to justify spending over $50 on a handle upgrade on a reel that doesn't cost much more than $100.
