We're not getting rid of the Jokes, Politics and Vehicle forums Marty. But we figured we needed a place to post all the 'other' stuff that comes up that doesn't fit into those categories.

Read the forum policies and all will become crystal clear, er... I think. :D

I read the rules Tony but I knew some of the others did not so I want it to draw this to their attention – dang that is some good bull!

sTony,
I'm curious about why you chose now to consolidate the two forums into one.
I think most people right now are on edge because of the tanked economy, and this just adds to their sense of things going down hill fast.
I agree that there's a lot of drama and B.S. on the southern board,
but I think it's because all the guys know each other and fish against each other all the time. After all, we only have a couple of lakes left to fish now (send water).
And the guys up north are a really close knit bunch, too, from what I've read on that forum, and from what I learned in conversation with some of them.
So distinct, regional forums made perfect sense, at least to me, and, I think, to most others. At least, it was what we were comfortable with and used to.
I think some kind of clarification into the thinking, like, maybe, forum sponsors wanted a less diluted audience, and more hits on their banners, would go a long way toward easing everyone's minds.
Think of it as the lubricant the Proctologist uses.

I never really wanted to have a separate bass fishing forums, ever. Several years back the guys down south convinced me to give their own forum. I did so. In the time that passed their was a lot of arguing, people asking for others to be banned and advertisers getting a lot less then those that were on the northern forum. It seemed after a while that the guys that did actually post on the southern forum just didn't want to get along. The sniping at each other got to be so bad that many forum users simply stopped posting there. it became an even worse off deal for those companies that wanted to reach them via that forum. I checked with the advertisers that were exclusive that forum and found that they encouraged a move to one bass fishing forum. I waited a long time before I actually pull the trigger on that decision. Once we started to get posts from users about 'things had gone down hill' on that forum I decided I'd been patient enough and made the shift to one Bass Fishing Forum. At the saem time I thought it best to modify the forum rules so that there was no question anymore in anyone's mind about how we'd moderate the forums. I searched the internet and located several forums that all seemed to have great traffic and understandable rules. Our new forum policies are a reflection of that search.

One of the common misconceptions of the forums is that they are for California anglers exclusively and that was never our intent. We're hoping folks will ask questions and provide feedback for folks from all over the western US. May of us have fished all over the western map and can share information about our experiences. There's no ambiguity left in our policies and we hope that folks will be as patient as we've been to date and give the new expanded forum a go.

I'm not saying we'll never go back to multiple fishing forums. But we can only do tht at some point if folks utilize those forums and abide by the policies that it seems many popular forum sites are running with and we feel are now reflected in our policies.

Hope that answers the question Mark. Thanks so much.

sTony,
What you say makes perfect sense, especially in today's economy.
No one can afford to buy advertising that they think isn't working.
I'm pretty sure, once the dust settles, we'll all get adjusted to the new format.
The guys who "left" seem to feel they have some kind of stake in the website and it's shape and content. Maybe they've been posting long enough to feel like "family", and just have hurt feelings that they weren't consulted.
I, for one, mostly just hate change, because it takes me so darn long to learn how to do anything on a computer, changing stuff means having to actually think again. Scary.
Good luck with the new format.
