Hds 8 thru hull transducer

Post by hydro »

I had epoxied in a transducer for a GEN 1 HDS 8 and sold the boat but kept the HDS 8 . Bought a newer boat and want to install the HDS 8 on the console . Seems to me the only transducer options for that unit were the "Skimmer " model or "Trolling motor mount " . Anyone know if this still the case ?

The transducer you used on your HDS Gen 1 unit is the right choice for the new boat. You can either glue into the bilge of your new boat the PD/WBL which is the puck type ducer or an HST/WBL which is the skimmer type transducer. The internal components of each transducer are the same, it is just the outside case that is different so you would get the same performance from either one. It is just easier to use the two part epoxy to glue in the puck type because of the flat bottom to the ducer.
