HDS Dark Screen

After a few hours on the water my HDS 8 dims to about 30% all by itself....I have to turn it off and on to get it back, any clues?

Could be a software issue unique to your unit. I would recommend calling Lowrance customer service at 1-800-324-1356. If there is a fix, they will know for sure.

My HDS 8 is doing the exact same thing. It seems random. Only does it sometimes, usually when the unit has been idle for a while. When this happens, I have to shut down the unit and turn it back on. Did you ever receive an anwer from lowrance?

they say it's related to the batteries which may be true because when I put new batteries in it happens less as the batteries get older it happens more
