Doug...i have an 898 and a 788. i cannot get the time to show on screen when either unit is in a map view of any kind. all the other screen views the time shows up, but when i switch to any of the views that has a map it shows no time, whether it is map alone or map with sonar or dsi doesn't matter. if it has a map anywhere on screen, no time. i run the mapping nearly all day, but when it get close to weigh in i have to switch to any screen without mapping to track the time....what am i doing wrong in my settings. thanks. ON the 800 Sereis some readouts are fixed. So try moving it to another readout selection box and see if that helps. 700 Series not all views can display time also.
