TO MUCH POLITICAL BS

Anymore cant come to this fishing website to relax and enjoy the hobby that my life revolves around.
There are places where these bozos can go and preach there BS about their political views
Sometimes it even starts in the middle of a good discussion of fishing
Not understanding how the mangers of this site don't just delete there comments or ban them from this site

I completely agree. WB "monitors" or whoever runs this site should move those posts immediately to the political section, this is a bass fishing site and has nothing to do with politics, please keep it that way.

But you still click on it and probably read most of it. I don't understand that? We need content on here. Nobody wants to talk fishing. We all know how to do that.
How about the Mod's put a "politics" sticky to get to the politics section in the fishing thread. That would make it easy because when I click on Westernbass in my saved favorite links it goes directly to the "fishing" section.

For me the down fall started with people attacking / Bad mouthing people who had died and the site went south from there. I only post in the lake reports page as no one can comment there. Leaving guys like Salmon looking for punkers in the classified's who sent me several demeaning P.M.'s which I sent to the Mods., left me done with W.B.. I use the site to communicate with old friends but have rarely used the site since. I even waited a year to post my last report as there just is no content here I need. I read the magazine and look at a few classifieds. I agree the politics do need to go into the political forum but there isn't as much fish talk anymore as in bygone days. I am told I need to be on facebook or instagram to follow the sport now. That will never happen. Have a nice week.

Sure. If it happens then all of you will be bleeding over to the politics section just to read something that wasn't two weeks old.

Yep 100%. I will no longer bite on that stuff, done.
And tournaments results only on the tourney page

I have to weed through 10 to 1 tourney results on the fishing page that I believe should be on the tourney page only. Let’s keep that separate as well and get the fishing page back to talking fishing. .02

Just don't respond to what the westernbass writer post about restore the delta or water being moved
or the tunnels being built. Golden mussel are here to stay
The Democrats own this state and Trump going to help them it pretty simple so get over it.
The tunnels will be built the delta will never get restored and water is going to flow.
And the delta is going no where it will be there for the next 200 years and fishing and recreational boating will always be there. So quit whining.
Democrat or Republican
Somebody post political chit don't post on it that's simple also.
I don't care what the Dems do with this state
I'm still going fishing when I want.
It's like beating a dead horse get over it.

Free speech. If you don't like it don't read it. Very simple. Or simply agree to disagree and go about your way.

Isn’t politics threatening our fishing waters with tunnels and closures?

The 1st amendment does not apply in private spaces, which Westernbass is. "Free speech" means that the government can't compel or restrict speech. If the WB forum owners wanted to restrict posts they could, and content moderation is common in other forums to keep discussions on topic. If Westernbass does NOT choose to moderate the forums and allows all posts that's their right as well, of course.
So in that situation we rely on common courtesy instead. And maybe, when somebody creates a bass fishing forum in which people from all different walks of life and persuasions are invited to meet and bond over a common hobby (to discuss *bass fishing*) - maybe it's not awesome behavior to then routinely go off-topic with divisive and polarized off-topic opinions (often even steering actual fishing conversations into political territory).
That is what other forum members are complaining about. How everybody reacts to these requests is very much up to them.

I totally agree that the mods should automatically move blatant political nonfishing posts to the politics forum. I've been around long enough to remember in the olden days (2010s) when the politics board was very active. I enjoyed shooting the sh1t with folks like Marty and Greg Cornish (whatever happened to them?) but at some point people just started posting their political rants on the main fishing forum. When that happened it no longer was a group of people who enjoyed political discussion and just became a bunch of people pointing fingers and hurling insults. I used to be a lot more active on this site but lost interest because it's no fun to read through a fishing threads and find it hijacked into a political discussion. I go to the main fishing forum to learn and share about fishing. I go to politics when I'm in the mindset to have a political discussion.

Cornish passed few years ago. He always enjoyed a good polemic. AS for political discussions, best I keep my ignorance to myself.

Sorry to hear about Cornish. I think I do remember hearing about his passing. He was a great contributor to both the fishing and politics boards.

What Mods?

It was a thankless job and with zero support or acknowledgement from Western Bass once sTony sold the site. I don't think they care about the forums. It's just about click-throughs and ad revenue from the classifieds and to some extent the reports. The forums as a community gathering place that once made NCBF and Westernbass what it was is now, like Jigs, retired.
RIP Greg Cornish one of the sweetest, toughest, ornriest SOB's i knew and he along with so many has moved on to the great lake in the sky.

The fact that this post gets moved, while other threads like “DONT MISS IT… DEMS GOING DOWN” remain in the fishing forum, is a slap in the face IMO.
I’d started reengaging with Westernbass a bit, but between these priorities and the excessive amount of ads, I’ll leave again. Maybe use the classifieds a bit. Hope to see everybody out on the water, and thanks to everybody who made the effort to have a thoughtful discussion without name-calling.

I can no longer continue this conversation with someone whose thinking and memory are clearly deteriorating. The arguments are incoherent, the reasoning is failing, and it’s painfully obvious that meaningful dialogue is impossible. Please seek mental health attention.
