Someone captured Saddam Hussein's hanging on their cell phone video and posted it to the internet. He died a little too fast in my opinion but at least he got what was coming to him.
Here's the link.

Yeah Tony, next thing you know we'll go to war to rid Iraq of weapons of mass destruction!!

Yeap it's a sick world and I'm just going to keep my kids in a bubble. Heck, I'm going to ban TV, cut people's heads off who depict my lord, make my wife wear traditional clothing, and rid my life of items of crupt western culture. Furthermore I'm going to sensor what my kids hear on the radio and read in books at school. They will learn who to hate from me and what is right an wron depending on what we believe in and our religion says not what science and learning has found. Yep what next Tony?? This site has gone down hill.....

Oooops, I just became the Taliban! Damn

Isn't that the whole purpose of groups that come out of the "Christian Right"? Folks like Robertson & Baker have tried for years to do just that here!!!

not really. They have not cut anyone's head off as far as I know. They also have not opperated in suside bombing. They may be extreme, but no where near what is going on in the middle east. Funny thing though, more people feel threatened by "The Christian Right" than they do of the crazy head cutters like Zarquai and bulding destoyers like bin Laden.

Our oldest son is 11, youngest 7- and yes we "keep them in a bubble". We home school to keep them away from a depraved system untill they are old enoufgh and wise enoufgh to make their own decisions with wisdom from their own heart, concience and moral values.

Most of us grew up just 20 years ago in what would be in "todays world" viewed as "radically sheltered" from the public school system with prime time TV being - Welcome Back Cotter, Good Times, Happy Days and for the racy stuff..... Charlies Angles, Threes Company ect.... Nothing like what is on TV today, Nothing at all like what it was when we went to school, and nothing at all like what it was on the corner of the neighborhood block compared to todays hoodlems.

-- Much less the internet of unsupervised kids from parents that accept it at an earlier age in todays world from their own value system that over time accepted things because of the constant surroundings and workplace environments daily instilling in you conforming to "Diversity" for other peoples lifestyle choices.

Kids have to grow up 2-3 years earlier just to keep up with peer pressure for acceptance when they should be enjoying baseball, taking pleasure in growing something be it livestock or plants, fishing, ....... just care free and not worried about missed PM's to the newest music downloads.

If more parental control was taken- This young boy may still be alive to enjoy a game of baseball, a day of fishing or mabey even a simple bike ride and picnick at the park with his family.

Saddam's execution cited in boy's accidental hanging death

(1/04/07 - HOUSTON) - Police and family members said a 10-year-old boy who died by hanging himself from a bunk bed was apparently mimicking the execution of former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein.
Sergio Pelico was found dead Sunday in his apartment bedroom in the Houston-area city of Webster, said Webster police Lt. Tom Claunch. Pelico's mother told police he had previously watched a news report on Saddam's death.

"It appears to be accidental," Claunch said. "Our gut reaction is that he was experimenting."

An autopsy of the fifth-grader's body was pending.

Julio Gustavo, Sergio's uncle, said the boy was a happy and curious child.

He said Sergio had watched TV news with another uncle on Saturday and asked the uncle about Saddam's death.

"His uncle told him it was because Saddam was real bad," Gustavo said. "He (Sergio) said, 'OK.' And that was it."

Sergio's mother, Sara Pelico DeLeon, was at work Sunday while Sergio and other children were under the care of an uncle, Gustavo said. One of the children found Sergio's body in his bedroom.

Police said the boy had tied a slipknot around his neck while on a bunk bed. Police investigators learned that Sergio had been upset about not getting a Christmas gift from his father, but they don't believe the boy intentionally killed himself.

Clinical psychologist Edward Bischof, of California, said children Sergio's age mimic risky behaviors they see on TV -- such as wrestling or extreme sports -- without realizing the dangers. He said TV appeared to be the stimulant in Sergio's case.

"I would think maybe this kid is trying something that he thinks fun to act out without having the emotional and psychological maturity to think the thing through before he acts on it," Bischof said.

Family members held a memorial for the boy Wednesday in the apartment complex activity center. Gustavo said the family is trying to put together enough money to send Sergio's body to Guatemala for burial.

"I don't think he thought it was real," Gustavo said of Saddam's hanging. "They showed them putting the noose around his neck and everything. Why show that on TV?"

What was missing from preventing that childs death was Parental Involvement --Pure and simple..... being from a broken family or not. Apparently comimng from a lack of a Father Figure for Guidance, Acceptance and Love from the article as I read it. Watch any news broadcast today and you will see that it makes up 70+ percent of the news in some form or another as being the root cause that makes up the stories of "News". Image

WesternBass is probably the most highest class Outdoor webpage I have ever witnessed and enjoy with every members mutual respect for each other, encouragement and understaning of differences - all the while assisting everyone in a better time enjoyed in the Outdoors.

To degrade someone over their belilefs "on both sides of the coin" over the internet is no diferent that having to listen to Rosie vs. Donald. -- But with radio, newspaper, TV and web== you have the same power as everyone else- and that is with the power to back away from it, cut it off completely or observe everyone else's perspective and respect them for it or not.

Let your own personal convictions be your own guide in to who you wish be percieved as to others and most importantly-- yourself.

People are all just cracked cisterns, no matter how different we all are. -- It is our given nature.

PS- I could care less if Saddam hanged or rotted in prison the rest of his life- It was not my battle and those that have battled for justice and have seen the outcome.

Well, I guess you missed my Sarcasim.

I have posted everytime controversey hits this web site that there is at least one guy who says the exact same thing "This site has really gone down hill. I'm never comming back" Over and over the site continues to grow despite the folks who get ticked off. Most of the people who get pissed off are only on here for comments other than fishing. I never see "fishing" posts like tips for baits, good Delta spots for beginners, or whatever.

You illustrated my point I was making through sarcasm. PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT. This is not a "G" rated site. I would rate it a a PG-13. That is because it is a site of free ideas from different folks of different walks of life. As you raise your kid, you need to decide what you are teaching them and what you want to expose them to. You decided that the public school system and TV were not the right options for your kids. So would you then let your kids watch TV one day unsupervised then proclaim "Gee TV really went down hill. It used to be a safe place for my kids. But now they showed my kids bad stuff that has curropted them" Notice the blame was the TV! You knew what was on there and that is why you do what you do. So for someone to claim their kid was shocked form something on the internet, or here on this website makes me think "where were you" Tony Stoltz and rhe other moderators work hard to keep the site clean. But this is the internet!! People are going to come on and post something beyond your control.

As for the kid that hung himself. I think that is completely dumb! When I was a kid, I could have blamed Metalica for wanting to commit suside from their song "Fade to Black" (which was not about sucide but taken that way). I could have immitated Arnold Schwartzaniger dozens of times and died. I could go on... THE FAULT LIES IN THE PARENTS for not teaching what is on TV is not what is in real life. Also, the boy can't be right if he's putting ropes aroud his neck thinking its fun. For crying out loud he just say the result of a rope around Sadam's neck, DEATH! Dumb man, or the kid had a mental problem.

I too talked and still talk about the option of home school for our boy. I'm usually the one sticking up for home school kids in a debate as I have seen some good kids turn out form home school. I know that was a direct result of parental involvement. The downside of home school can be the street smarts. You always hear that there is book smarts and street smarts. I think a good education is not only Math, Science, Philosophy, and Writing, but it is also how to deal with the bully, how to negoate your way out of a fix when you are in trouble, dealing with multipal and different teachers and teaching meathods, learning to perform underpressure, dealing with being uncomfortable and feeling akward. Some of these can't be learned at home, but can be incorporated through home schoolers doing things with their kids.

I wish you the best of luck with your kids. This world is sick, and I think is has been sick for a long time. The bigest problem I see today is not the violence and dumb TV, it is the lack of drive, the lack of purpose, and the lack role models. Kids have nothing to do and they fill their time in with crap. Kids don't work, don't excercise, don't know about family pride, civic duty, and national pride and duty. I place some blame on society for the high price of life making most parents work. I also blame parents for wanting to make life fun for the kids therefore mom and dad working stressful jobs so they can buy their kids a nentindo wee, take them to Disney Land, buy, buy, buy... Menwhile, the kids are left alone after school with nothing but the TV, internet, video games, drugs, and more.

I hope things will get better, but the way I see it, I will just have to work harder to overcome the crap. I hold myself responsible for the upbringing of my boy. I wish everyone luck with their kids.
