A good pick in Sotomeyer, but I wish he'd picked someone in the early 30's

Since I've never met her or followed her closely, I'm basing my thoughts on what I hear. She is neither Liberal or Conservative, but is called a Centrist and does not base her opinions on a political ideology, but rather on a case by case basis.

"According to Judge Sotomayor, if your state or city bans all guns the way Washington, D.C. did, that’s okay under the Constitution."

I really doubt that you could call an anti second amendment judge a conservative or even a moderate. Gee, what would that leave? Maybe a liberal who will create law from the bench. No thank you.

I thought you were all for states rights. Just move to Montana, Texas or Minnesota.

Why? I live in a state where I can carry a gun on my hip, under my shirt or loaded in my truck. The second amendment applies to every American regardless of where they live so you should be filing a new lawsuit to get your constitutional rights back. The lefty 9th circuit even affirmed your rights recently. Heller was a 5-4 decision so anyone who believes in the right to keep and bear arms should be very concerned about your new appointee. It won't be a cakewalk for Obama anyway since 65 democrats from states where the second amendment can get them thrown out are on record as opposing any moves toward gun control.

Maybe a moderate compared to Obama. I think Greg really believes that she would have voted with the majority in Heller.

That is a disturbing video for someone being considered for the SC. Shooting from the hip is usually not a positive credential.

While all Supreme Court appointees are important, at least this one will not shift the balance on the bench.

I just read that she is an active member of La Raza so that is enough for me. Makes her emminently qualified to make totally unbiased legal decisions.

And what is it you don't like about La Raza?

Nothing in particular other than it is an activist organization. Do you think a SC justice should be an advocate or an interpreter of constitutional law for all Americans? How would you feel if there was a judge up that belonged to a gay rights organization or one that belonged to the NRA?

aside from the fact that they are a sepratist organization, nothing.

Seems like every La Raza event here the speakers are advocating that the SW United States should rightfully be taken back by Mexico. No problem with that. I always embrace people who want to take over my country. Nothing to be concerned about.

I just checked the website, http://www.nclr.org/section/about/ , it does not mention Mexico taking over the southwestern end of our country.

In a book written by Carlos M. Jimenez, a Los Angeles high school teacher, "The Mexican American Heritage" a new map of North America was drawn showing Aztlan above Mexico.

Clubs espousing the MEChA Philosophy can be found in public high schools, colleges and universities. #1 of this philosophy states: "We are Chicanas and Chicanos of Aztlán reclaiming the land of our birth." They preach a hatred of the United States and are radical in their approach. Members of these La Raza groups may have been responsible for replacing US flags on US government property with Mexican flags during the May 1, 2006 "Day Without Immigrants" protest in Southern California. For unknown reasons "This Is Mexico" was spray painted on Bristol Ave in Santa Ana, California during these protests. If the La Raza's were responsible, it would seem they would have spray painted "This Is Altzan".

Why would they want to do that? Then no-one could drink the water.

It's not about Mexico, or even Latino's/hispanics. Its about Chicano/Chicana and the mythical homeland of Aztlan, and the liberation of a mythical place.

Hope my house isn't located in Assland.
