WWBT Rules Clarification

Post by BCook »

Time for another installment of WWBT rules clarification. This month we will be discussing the off limits period. Here is the rule:

12 OFF LIMITS PRACTICE: QUALIFYING EVENTS: Tournament waters shall be off-limits to all contestants 5 days prior to the event day in all WWBT events
unless otherwise notified by WWBT. Off limits for WWBT tournament waters will start at 12:01am local time the Monday 5 days prior to event day. SEE WWBT
WEBSITE FOR OFFICIAL DATES FOR EACH EVENT. CHAMPIONSHIP – Tournament waters shall be off-limits to all contestants at 12:01 AM local time 10 days prior to the first open practice date in all WWBT Championship events unless otherwise notified by WWBT. SEE WWBT WEBSITE FOR OFFICIAL DATES FOR EACH EVENT. CHAMPIONSHIP- There will be an open practice period immediately prior to the first competition day of the tournament. SEE WWBT WEBSITE FOR OFFICIAL DATES FOR EACH EVENT. No contestants will be allowed on Tournament waters after registration until the first day of competition. Unless otherwise specified, all official times are specific to local host community. The contestant must know and observe these dates. During both the open practice and the tournament, a contestant may not have the assistance or advice of anyone other than another confirmed contestant for the purposes of locating or catching bass, nor enter the tournament waters with anyone who has been on the tournament waters during the off-limits period including, but not limited to, a professional guide, state or federal wildlife agency employee, or any other person deemed an “expert“ on these tournament waters by the Tournament Director, unless they are a contestant in the tournament. Flying over tournament waters or the use of drones during the off-limits period, open practice and competition is not allowed.

Ok, so the rule is pretty clear. From Monday (Sunday night) at 12:01 AM, the tournament waters are off limits. Tournament waters. This means from boat, from the bank or from a dock. No fishing. Period. The only way you may be on the water is with the TD’s permission. Also, no walking the banks scouting for bed fish.

The Delta off limits include all fishable waters of the Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers. If you can drive a boat to it from Big Break, it is off limits.

Now this rule runs in conjunction with the no info rule (Rule 13). When the tournament waters go off limits, the no info rule begins.

There you go. If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call.

Look forward to seeing you at a WWBT event soon,
