I mean very large. Three total. Had my son cast and cast and cast. NOTHING. Rented boat. Drove the entire lake. looking for BASS. Yeah right. The only ones you will see are around the docks!!! NO FISHING ALLOWED THERE.
I tried everything I bought. Top, bottom, middle side etc. The only fishing i seen was TROLLING. I my son and his girlfriend cought a sunburn and nothing else. Maybe we were to hungry. Checked Pardee website. BIG BASS caught 2002 june 17th. So i was a week early and two years to late! I don't know everyone it will be quite a while before go back. Booked a bass trip for clearlake. Report: Fished a club tournament on Sunday. Partner and I had pre-ished a ew weekends beore the event and ound that the topwater bite was good or one or two big ish, beore the sun hit the water. Once the sun was up, we caught quality ish (several in the 4 to 5 pound range) on jigs and Carolina-rigged plastics on points in the main body at a depth o 20 eet or less. Natural colors seemed to work the best. Tournament Sunday was a little dierent. We caught one sickly looking smallmouth (covered in sores and rotting lesh) on a Chug-bug. We threw topwater or another hour, but we couldn't get any other bites. We started ishing the C-rig, jig, and drop-shot. Caught a 2-pounder and then a nice 8-pounder on the ootball head jig. We had our three ish at 8:15. That was it or the day. Our weight was just under 12 pounds.
    City: Sacramento

Tips: We ound ish holding near schools o bait on and around points at about 16 eet. Several times we got too close with the boat and saw the bass we were trying to catch, so we let and came back a little later and made long casts. Long casts seemed to be the ticket.

Report: Folsom bass team tournament. 22 boats 44 isherman. One limit o bass. Several boats recorded no keepers. One nice 8 lber was caught drop shot. Other unknown because no ino reported. Winning bag said top water and dart heads? Fill in the blanks? I caught my 2 keepers cranking shade pockets near green bushes. Several small bass hit 4 inch and 6 inch worms drop shot. Overall a very tough bite or all.Pre ishing I could get several keepers ripping wind blown points. Extra boat noise might have put most ish down? Neat not to have jet skiers and skiers with boom boxes. $17.50 or two anglers is a little high but the lake is real clean and a outhouse in every cove.

Tips: Go on a week day. Everything works then.

Caught 5 total only because it was windy and only got an hour to ish. Caught all ish on either 4" inesse worms or live minnows. Fish went rom 1-2pds. Seen some ish bedding in the rec. area. and around the ramp. All ish were caught at last hour o day on either beds or at lake pionts in the river arm.
    City: sacramento

Tips: Fish wit light line and use inesse worms. I you don't see any bed ish then go deep and start dropshotting or splitshotting.Bass seemed to love natural colors.good luck!

Report: Fished a club tournament last Sunday. The weather was nasty, windy, and rainy, which made or rough conditions. The bite was slow but the ish were o quality size. Five bites or 17 1/2 pounds. All were caught on 809 paddle tail grubs at 20-30 t. This lake keeps getting better every year or quality but, where did all the small ish go? This lake used to be ull o undersize smallmouth and now you are lucky to catch just one. I have not caught an undersize ish out o this lake in the last 3 years. Are they all getting eaten up by the larger ish?I so, what's going to happen to the bass ishing in this lake in 5 or 10 years?

Report: We stayed mostly in the River Arm, and the coves and points close to the main lake. We didn't ind them at all. Got skunked. My pardner had two bites but couldn't convert either.WE spent most o our day dropshotting: 4" inch green weenie Keeper worms, 4" senkos, grubs, etc. Tried some o those same baits on darter heads. Tried splitshotting 4" worms and 5" senkos, even tried some spinnerbaits, nothing worked.Fished rom the shallows to 25-30' deep.Guess I'll wait until it warms up a bit beore trying here again. The bald eagle was a pretty sight circling above a point.

Report: Got a rare chance to come up on a weekday with The Sarge. We ished pretty much up the river arm and caught ish all the way down to Black Gulch. We tried alot o dierent stu but the only things they seemed to want alot o today were small inese worms(3-4.5")in green pumpkin and purple. We got about 3 dropshotting boulders with grubs and sassy shiners, but mostly just ran down the river arm walls picking them up in about 20-30t. At about 6pm we switched over to topwater with Pop R's ished grapevine gulch and box canyon area by the main lake and got close to ten more ish beore we let at 8pm. All in all another good day up here with about 25 ish to 3lbs(Largemouth)2lbs was the biggest smallie, Way more Largemouths then Smallmouths today.
    City: Dublin

Tips: Use the lightest line you eel you can get away with using. Try to go on a weekday sometime. There was NO ishing pressure at all and we had the lake to ourselves!

    Water Temp: 80 surace

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: First time on lake in over a year.Tried many dierent styles and the dropshot won. Hands down best bite. Caught one quality smallie pushin' 3lbs next to the tower section o the dam. The ish was about 30' down. Then went to some northern points that extended way out into the lake and started inding some nice blacks. They were on the bank down to 20+. They seemed to be spread out pretty good so moving steadily down the banks was a good way to ind the active ish. I could see many very nice sized smallies and blacks cruzing the rocky points I was ishing but everytime I could see them they we're looking at me and would bolt o. These ish seem to be very smart and tough to catch and that is the draw or me to this lake. It is great practice and the rewards this lake can give you are truely worth the eort. All ish caught were busting at the seams as this lake has alot o good orage or them.
    City: Mountain View

Tips: 6lb line and 6" worms on dropshot was what worked the best or me. No crushing hits, just subtle takes. I did get two ish on topwater later in the evening and missed a ew.

    Water Temp: 71-74

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Well, back up here again. We started late again(not to smart when it's about 100 degrees out) Anyway, saw Big Daddy's report about getting a ew on some islands so we tried a couple o those down in the south end irst beore heading up river. On my third cast into about 25-30t I boated a 3.4 Largemouth on a Zoom inese worm, we went ahead and went all the way around the island landing two more Largemouths to 2.6lbs, one on a Rapala countdown, one on a deep diving crawdad crank. Hit one more island beore going up river, but didn't boat a ish. Headed ar up the river and got into them again just like the last time we came up. We ished through the heat o the day and boated about 30-35 ish again, but nothing bigger then the 3.4 I caught at the island. We got 2 that went 2.9 and 2.12 and a bunch more right at 1.5-2.0lbs and some dinks. Pretty much caught them on the same baits as last time. Zoom inese worms in green pumpkin and watermelon/redlake, a ew on the rapala countdown and deep diving Crawdad cranks and small renagade cranks, even caught two split shotting a zoom tube in green pumpkin. All in all another good day, just wish I came earlier in the day.
    City: Dublin

Tips: Go early, It's to damn hot to be out there all day unless your nuts like us. Tons o ish, but i your up here and the suns been on the water or a while GO DEEP(at least 25-30t to get non dinks.)

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: started late at 10:45am, didn't even bother to ish the main body o the lake. With all the heat this past week, we headed up the river arm to a little cooler water. Fished up the river arm all day. Not much o a Smallmouth bite today BUT the Largemouths were on a absolute tear. We ended up catching over 40 ish by 8pm, Three Largemouths over 3lbs, biggest was 3.6lbs, a whole bunch in the 2lb range and several right around the limit, not many dinks. We caught the most on Zoom Finesse worms and small Crick Hopper cranks. We also got some on Zoom trick worms, Crawdad cranks(small ones) Chartruse mini jigs, 4" magic worms and Castaic swimming minnows. Tried to throw bigger baits, but they just didn't want them today. The best 5 were close to 15lbs and over 40 on the day. A really good day at this lake.
    City: Dublin

Tips: DOWNSIZE everything. We tried to use larger cranks and worms and or whatever reason, they wanted nothing to do with them. Use light line and make long casts. The water is ultraclear.
