Report: hey matt its not about fishing where the dogs are at, its about trying to get in and out of the water with your float tube. it kinda sucks when there are between 6-12 dogs running around knocking your rods to the ground, jumping on you ,barking, growling and the owners just stand there and think its cute
    City: it dont matter

Tips: so now you stop crying

Report: you guys need to stop crying about the dogs. I'm a fisherman there too and I personally could care less if the dogs are there or not. Ya the dogs stir up the water and scare the fish away. So what, the areas the dogs are in anyways suck and concentrate the fish elsewhere. To me the fishing is just as good if the dogs are there or not, just find another spot to fish.

Report: Tim, I too feel your pain. It's why I've stopped fishing here altogether. I havn't been here since last summer. The dogs are RIDICULOUS. I almost got into a fight over it. It's funny. I've seen DFG tell PEOPLE to stop swimming, but the dogs are allowed to go right in! The EBMUD has lost my money for good. I will never fish at shadow cliffs as long as the dogs allowed rule is in effect. You know, it's funny, Us bass anglers always release our fish, we pay money just for the sport of it, yet the EBMUD let dogs in to disrupt our fishing. They make nothing but money off us. You'd think they would try to support us more than dog walkers. I think you have to pay $3 per dog or something like that, but if you want to fish you have to pay $5, maybe it's more this year, like I said, I havn't been there specifically because of the dogs. Good luck to all that perservere. Hopefully the dogs allowed rule will stop. Untill then I will take my business to other lakes in the region. Note to EBMUD, I used to fish 2-3 times a month at Shadow Cliffs, $5 per day comes out to $100+ a year. I'm sure I'm not the only one to have given up on this lake. You're losing money. Get smart.

Tips: Don't fish here, this lake is for the dogs.

Report: 30+ bass day! unfortunately, not one of them was over 8 inches long LOL we fished just 20 feet south of the closed boat ramp and were actually going for bluegills but the baby bass wouldn't leave us alone...in fact, we only caught one bluegill the entire time. we fished 1/8 oz. jigs tipped with a piece of nightcrawler. just when i was starting to think there weren't any bigger fish in this lake, a 3 pounder slowly swims by within 2 feet of the shoreline. i quickly throw out a larger plastic grub but couldn't entice it to bite. i tried casting for larger bass but gave up because of the extreme weeds.

Report: threw the frog for the full 6-10 a.m. period, got some blow ups skipping under trees in Arroyo, and 1 bite, but no froggy feesh. Behind the island in Island Pond where there was an amazing frog bite a month ago is trash now (at least for me). all the weed mats are gone, but if you flip it I'm sure something would turn up.
    City: P-town

Tips: I would recommend drop shotting, senkos, and flipping the weeds with heavier weights. The fish that went after me frog were in the backs of trees and were pretty much on the bank. I think I am done going to Shadow Cliffs for a while now

Report: frogs has died down starting last week in arroyo and island. id stick with plastics and floating jerkbaits. also i saw a 17+ pound CATFISH in island pond today. yes, it was a catfish. i was in 2 ft. of water and was litterally at my feet. it was just chillin' there and i tried snagging it, but got away How these catfish come about. this is my 2nd sighting of a catfish there.
caught 2 all punchin' mats with 1/2 oz. sweetbeaver. no biggies just small fries at the most west end of arroyo and the most north end of island.

Tips: heavy weighted plastics to punch through the mats, and floating jerbaits (shad rap, lc, etc) also floating crankbaits. frogs work very little these 2 weeks, weeds has died down substantially. LOTS of small bass fry. (maybe use bass imitation lures? i ve used shad imitations works good).

Im the asian dude with a red outcast float tube probably with 2 other asians one that has fake oakleys and a wife beater and another one who has a crappy fish finder that he rubberbanded to his tube.

Report: We know the dogs are a problem. You guys can help us keep the dogs under control. On the big brown sign that says DOG RULES: Dogs may not touch or jump on any park visitor that does not encourage or want contact with dogs.

We have too much to do lakefront, that we cant be out there patrolling all the time. BUT, if you come to the front, and flag down a ranger, PARK policeman, or you go to the kiosk (where you pay entry fees), and give us a description of the dogs, the owners, and a brief report of what happened, we'll go back and chase the owners down.
But please, take the initiative and tell the owners to call their dogs back.

As for the parking lot access, what we have now is what we have for good. If we were to extend the lot, build a path, etc. we would have to zone it, get it approved by multiple agencies, and have a lot of work go into it. Advice: park near that big main levee hill, and hike up the hill.
    City: Pleasanton

Tips: Tell a ranger of anything you think is out of the ordinary, annoying, or you dont like. We aim to please our guests.

Report: rangerdanger i have to agree with carl, keep those damn dogs out of the ponds,if your float tubing try getting in or out of the water,a dozen dogs running around growling barking knocking your poles over then the owners think its funny then theres crap all over the trails, tennis balls all around the shoreline, last week saw a dead bass with a tennis ball stuck in his mouth (have pictures).how about making the back lakes catch and release or change limit to 2

    Report: To RangerDanger:

The lake is awesome, but there is one thing that can be changed: Easier access to the ponds. Arroyo Del Valle and especially Island Pond are difficult to access from the back parking for float tubers (atleast for me) and would like to see more parking or better access. Thanks.
    City: San Ramon

Tips: Im kinda on the heavy side.
