Water Temp: 76-78
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Once again launched out o Paradise Point or close access to the east end o Disappointment Slough. On the water at 6:30 a.m. There was an incoming tide, with a slight surace mist. Small Stripers were busting shad in the middle o the slough. Started throwing an Iovino "Splash-it" at the boils. Had a hook-up on virtually every cast, but they were all one pound or less. I played with about a dozen o them and then started bass ishing.I started at the extreme east end o the slough on the north corner, where the current created an eddy, in approx 8 t o water. Began by lippin a brown 1/4 oz jig and a 5" watermelon w/red lake Senko. Picked up the occasional dink, but nothing legal.Made a short run up Disappointment, about a 1/4 mile past the bridge at Paradise Point. Again started lippin the Senko to the tule edges where I could ind deeper water with eddies. Managed a 2 pounder. Frustration started to hit me, so I made a run to Little Potato, looking or better water. It wasn't any better. A dink here and there.Came back to my original starting point in Disappointment, and lipped the north bank. By this time, the tide had changed. Almost low tide.Finally....I elt a tap on the Senko and set. Nothing moved, so igured I had a decent ish on. I started crankin' and she started movin'. She headed or the TM, but I was able to raise it beore she tied me up. Peeled o 20-30 t o drag, and I'm thinking I may have my FIRST 10 pounder! My heart's beating ast enough to supply blood or 3 people! Ater 4-5 minutes I was able to get my irst look at her and slip the net under her.She wasn't close to the 10 lbs I had imagined! Weighed in at 6 1/2 lbs on the digital. This had to be the strongest bass I have ever caught. A beautiul ish without a single blemish.Ater a quick "thank you" kiss, I slipped her back in the water.Fished or another hour, without a bite, and gave it up or the day.Final tally: 12 Stripers (all small), 6-8 dinks and 2 keepers.

Report: Didn't get on the water until 10:00 and quit about 3:00. I blanked, not even a bite. Water very clear, 7-8 oot visibility since there was no boat traic to speak o being that it was Thursday. I ished rom 1 to 50 eet all over the lake. Tried dart head worms, jigs, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, lukes, senkos even rogged a couple weed weeds. I have never seen so many baby bass in my lie, what a spawn! There were also shad everywhere, like Shasta in all. I pretty much knew in the irst hour it would be tough with so much bait around. I had hoped to see some bait balls with eeding ish so I could try and spoon 'em but nada. Oh well... remember, the worst day ishing beats the best day working.

Report: We decided to check out the lake again. Ater yesterday I thought what the hell. Besides my uture brother in law is in town, so I had to take him out and show him up. We started in the south with nothing going, but 1 ish on a senko. Moved out to the main lake and ished some rock piles and I caught two in two casts. We had to pick up my girlriend at the dock, and then went up past the granite bay area. The wind was up and going again, but the ish didn't seem to mind. All three o us hooked up at the same time, and we were all using dierent stu. The ishing was good or an hour, and then nothing. I did notice the moon was up over the hills when the ishing died, but I don't know i that had anything to do with it. We went over by the damn beore dark, and missed a ew bites, but my girl caught a 2.5 spot and we let on that. Just in case you were wondering I caught the most, but the little woman had the biggest again. Good Luck.
City: Eldorado HillsTips: Shad pattern worms either split shot or drop shot, and jigs. Decent bite on jigs today, but the ish were small. We caught 15 this aternoon and evening. Alot o small ish.

Report: This is not a report, but a note to all you younger guys who ish Laayette. I am currently a tourning bass pro and I grew up and LEARNED how to ish or bass at laayette years ago. As or the post about no bass, that could'nt be arther rom the truth. I have seen ish exceding 15lbs and know people who have caught them up to 13 lbs this year. You won't see pictures o it on the wall because they don't want the word to get out, but all o you know the potential there. And speaking o potential brings me back to my point. I am a PRO FISHERMAN and i learned rom laayette bass! They are some o the toughest ish to catch anywhere. Three o my reinds who are also pros also ished mostly laayette as kids to. One o them inished in the top our o the last BASSMASTER tournament on the Delta. Remember the ishing lessons learned rom chasing those big laayette bass. I you hope to become a pro bass ishermen in Caliornia or anywhere or that matter, YOU CAN!!!!! And in my opinion you will be much better prepared than most o your competitors because you learned it rom laayette. I you can catch them there, honestly you can catch them anywhere a bass swims. I hope you think about it and consider yourselves the up and coming bass pros, I'll bet some o you will be. eel ree to drop me a line with any questions about laayette. I still go quite oten. Report: or those not in the 530 area code, MGM lures has a new 800 number 1-800-376-9555, or in the 530 area its 246-3663, in the water at 530pm at packers, air temp 99, met up with Bryce and Susan Fuller newly retired to Cottonwood rom Salinas, we ran up the McCloud to just south o Hirz Bay witha 20 knot southwind behind us, stopped on the west bank and I immeddiately got bit repeatedly on an MGM #109 twin tail skirted grub on a 3/4oz ootball head, all must have been smal until about 630 pm when I got two in the boat at 2.0 and a 1.8. most were jumping o at the boat or near the boat, lots o dinks, Susan and Bryce were having the same luck with Susan in the lead or a bit, she says that Bryce has a tendency to stretch things a bit and she insists that they must be in the BOAT to count. My boat owner(the wie) had the same opinion when my ish were jumping o. Most o the better ish came between 630pm and 730 pm. We ran back downstream near shallow point where the same thing happended, lots o hits and ish jumping o and small or the most part. My best size came where some clearer water was mixing with the narrow mudlines on windblown banks with rock on it, the steeper the slope the better. The wie and I took o at 930pm the Fuller's decided to hang around a bit longer. Mr. Coyle poured me 8 o the 109"s they are all gone and chewed up. Most ish came out o 20 t or less, the better sized ones were close up to the bank right at sunset. I think the morning bite is getting better but the evening bite seems to last a little longer.

Report: Took the labrador with me ishing today, she loves it. She is especially ond o throwing ish back- she gets to jump in and go swimming:) A lot o dinks between 40-15 t. during the day (1-4pm)so I decided to go deep and around 5:30 it turned out great. I had 7 ish over 2lbs all on the same point, must have hit em just right. When I brought my jig up and didnt have a ish on, the dog was looking at with a "wheres the ish" expression. These ish all had great bellies on em, and the ight was better than the typical spot.

Report: Got there about 7:30pm. Thought or sure that @!$^%#&&% wind would lay down. Never did. Started crankin white Norman on my new Lamiglass 7' XCF 705 10-20lb Crank N Blade topped o with a Calcutta 251. Right away I knew I made the right choice as I hooked two nice smallies in a row. I anybody out there is looking or crank rod I would seriously look into this rod. Its just has a great eel and the ish really can take or load up on the bait. This is not plug or advertisement. Call Scott at 707-588-8036 Outdoor Pro Shop. You won't regret buying one o these. Back to the ishing. My son throws his black Terminator with a black/red baby brushhog trailer into some wood and boom hooks a nice largie about 3lbs. I told him everytime I throw this blade up here I get big ish and I convinced him right there. Wind really blowing hard topped o with boat traic I was starting to get a little steamed. Roller ater roller. Trolling motor dies. A lesson here or everybody. Don't let your riend borrow your boat. I don't care how close you are. It will not come back the same way it let. He didn't do anything on purpose, but I should have done a boat check beore I got there. Salt all over the trolling motor wires. Had to be scraped o. Got it going again. Decide to ind shelter and the boat will not start. Never had a problem beore, now I do. Can't get it started and luckily we make it back to the marina with trolling motor on high. End o ishing. I think I set a record or cursing. Wind still blowing. The ride home was tough and seriously thought about giving it all up, but I love it too much. Today is another day and hopeully I'll give a better report than this ater we igure out the engine. Sorry.
City: PetalumaTips: First and oremost you gotta make sure everything is working properly on boat beore going on night trip. Lesson learned here. Only you use your boat. No borrowing by riends. Even though they mean well, its going to lead to problems. When I got my boat back, nothing was the same. Look into those Lammys or crankin and bladin.

Report: On the water in my float tube at 6:15pm. Water was way down. Saw a VERY LARGE fish rising near the shore in the southern end of the lake. I threw everything I had at this fish for an hour, flukes, twin tail grub, buzzbait, Rapala chugger, shallow running crankbaits... nothing. I moved out along my favorite ledge around 7:30, throwing a Lunker City "Whipstick" (plasitc jerkbait, similar to a fluke). Fish were hitting the surface, but didn't want anything to do with my flukes (I caught one 5 inch fish on a 7.5 inch lure). I missed one fish on a buzzbait. Bass were hitting the surface everywhere chasing smaller baitfish. It is frustrating to see the fish actively feeding, but not hook into a couple. Now that hindsight is 20/20 I should have been using my 3 inch shad colored Bass Assassins, rather than the larger 7.5 inch Fluke.
City: Mountain ViewTips: Shad imitations that will not hang up in the weeds. Maybe 3 inch Bass Assassins...

Report: 30 ish over two days weekend warrior style- Saturday until noon and Sunday until 1:00. The latter was an 8.6lb limit good enough or ourth place in a club tournament. Caught a 4lb largemouth on the wrong day. Winners had 12.96 and second had 12lbs. About hal the 15 teams had limits indicating that while tough, there was a bite to be had. Didn't check the dam releases, but the lake dropped a noticeable ew inches overnight Saturday to Sunday. Might explain why our irst spot, a shallow, ree like area on the main lake didn't give up ish or the irst 20 minutes. The spot had been automatic. And while we deliberatley stayed o the best water in practice Saturday, Sunday's action was slower. The sudden lake level drop possibly aected the bite, but it didn't seem to phase some anglers. An adjustment was needed- one was our tight posterior. Props to my partner. He's a close second in club point standings and his boat is down. He has the misortune o drawing me, an angler that tries to run and gun red-ass all over the lake. My rig does 35 on a good day i I premix the oil a tad light. He's a sot plastics man- a good one, and I'm primarily a reaction guy. I can go both ways- that's ishing techniques clones. Near the end, running our no huddle oense, my partner nails a 2lb spot on a split shot and he propels us to the loty position o irst out o the money. Our limit included a largemouth he contributed also. The winners Mike Hara and Mike Melvin were locked in on quality ish. A limit o 2 to 3lb spots. They used power ishing techniques and rom the start they were in the zone. Think by now I'd be used to being sacked by my riends. Swimbait backseated me again. This time in the Delta. It was a hoot. I I were into boxing I'd try to spar with George Foreman. Mike Tyson too. Had a heart to heart with Tony, the web master here. No worries. I I have a take on the orum, I'll just mention it. That way it won't end up on Tony's cutting room loor. Want to improve the quality o this site's reports? Submit one. I you catch a ew keepers dragging those pre-rigged worms- you know the ones, they come in a blister pack with a propeller, bring it on. At one point Sunday I was dragging ast enough to where my partner's propeller was actually turning. My propeller is turning too- the one on my head or writing this stu. Don't just read these reports, strap it on and submit one.
City: El Dorado HillsTips: I've read about anglers that ish the TVA lakes back east. Everything changes when those dams release water. Fluctuations here are not as extreme, but a change that's noticeable in 24 hours probably aects the ish anywhere.

Report: Well, my buddy and I hit the good old delta once again. The day started out bad as I blew a tire on my trailer on the way up. We were on the water about 7:00 A.M. and missed the early bite. Got the irst one around 8:00 a 2lb on a watermelon senko. We ished until about 3:00 p.m. and caught about ten all day. The biggest was just under 3lb. Got them on senkos, speedtraps and one on a buzzbait. Had something slam my scum rog but missed it. My buddy got a nice one on the new zipper worm. It looks like the old zipper but has a rilled end like a tube bait on it. He also caught a crappie on a speed trap? It got pretty windy so we headed in. All in all a good day just wish we got some bigger ones.
