    Oroville Spillway construction is progressing at a fast pace, as large volumes of concrete are placed in multiple areas of the flood control spillway throughout the day. The large void in the central area of the chute is being filled with roller-compacted concrete, while leveling concrete is poured in the upper chute.

    Steel beams are installed for the upper spillway walls. Roller-compacted concrete (RCC) continues going in on the middle spillway. Crews prepare the area between the upper and lower chute for RCC by filling the crevasses with dental concrete. Rebar mats are set for structural concrete on the lower spillway.

    In 2017 Coast Guard Foundation Grants 166 Scholarships

    The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education and welfare of all Coast Guard members and their families, announced today that in 2017 it has awarded a record 166 new scholarships. Combined with ten multi-year scholarship recipients and three Fallen Heroes Scholars, the Foundation is currently assisting 179 students with a half-million dollars in support this year. In the 27 years of this program, the Coast Guard Foundation has paid out more than $4.7 million to more than 780 college-aged young adults to help the families of Coast Guard members achieve their goals of higher education.

With a two-day total of 10 bass weighing 39 pounds even, Cobb will lead the final 10 pros who will fish Sunday for $300,000 cash – the top award in professional bass fishing.

    Progress is being made at the Lake Oroville Spillways around the clock. Crews continue to work day and night to clean and prepare the remaining rock, while rebar and stay-forms are placed where rock has already been prepared. Structural concrete is being poured in many sections of the upper and lower chute, and roller compacted concrete continues to be placed at night when temperatures are cooler.
