What's New from Daiwa | Rods, Reels and Tools

Daiwa continues to release products, building something for everyone. If you are looking for entry level or high-end, they have something for you. They released several new items earlier this year at the Bassmaster Classic and then again at ICAST they showed off many new products.

Here is a look at some of their new products:

New Daiwa Spinning Reels

Daiwa showed off several new spinning reels that should excite finesse anglers. The reels include the Ballistic LT, Tatula LT and Daiwa Fuego LT and sub $100 options, the Exceler LT and Legalis LT. All of them are part of the Light and Tough (LT) series. Daiwa has incorporated many of the best technologies of their higher end reels and brought them down the line to these new reels.

Here are the new Daiwa spinning reels unveiled at ICAST 2017:

  • Daiwa Ballistic LT - The Ballistic retails for $229 and features Magsealed bearings for durability under all conditions. They are lightweight and feature many technologies found in Daiwa’s more expensive reels including the DigiGear, Air Bail, and Air Rotor.
  • Tatula LT - The Tatula name is everywhere with Daiwa. Quality baitcast reels and now the Tatula Elite Rods. Now there is a spinning model that lives up to its name. It has a zaion housing to keep it light and also features Daiwa’s DigiGear, Air Rotor, and Air Bail systems. Retail cost is $199-$209.
  • Daiwa Fuego LT - One thing that makes Daiwa’s reels so smooth and durable is the MagSeal system for the bearings. It protects the bearings from the elements and now this technology is available in a reel that retails for just $99-109. The reel also has a machined aluminum handle and Daiwa’s Air Rotor, Air Bail and DigiGear included.
  • Exceler LT - The Exceler has been redesigned and retails for less than $80. It has the Digigear gearings for exceptional smoothness and has a four ball bearings system plus one roller bearing as well an aluminum frame.
  • Daiwa Legalis LT - The Legalis LT retails for $69.99 and is lightweight, smooth and has a carbon light housing. Also included are Daiwa’s Air Rotor and Air Bail for smoothness and ease of use.

  • Daiwa Lexa WN Casting Reels - The Lexa is a popular reel for swimbait fishermen and now they are available with Winn Grip handles. These unique handles provide better performance, comfort and less slipping in wet conditions.
  • Daiwa Millionaire Classic UTD Round Casting Reel - The Millionaire is Daiwa’s round reel option and the new version is part of the UTD series, which means Ultimate Tournament Drag system. The drag washers are built to make drag performance smoother. It features oversized knobs, swept handle and will retail for $79.99.
  • Daiwa RG Casting Reels - The RG will retail for $69.99 and packs some big performance for its price. It has a MagForce cast control for fine-tuning your cast, a 90mm swept handle and smoothness that is impressive for a reel at this price point.

Daiwa Procyon Casting and Spinning Rods

These new rods retail for just $79.99, but have quality features. They are built with a high-modulus carbon blank for strength and sensitivity. They also have cork handles and titanium oxide guides.

Cronos Glass Casting Rod

The Cronos has been around for a few years but they just added a new casting model. This 7’4” glass rod is built for bladed jigs, spinnerbaits, crankbaits and other reaction baits. It is the same high-modulus and lightweight design as the other Cronos rods.

Daiwa Tatula Elite Rods

These were released at the Classic and are still new items that are gaining popularity and attention from bass anglers. This line of rods was built with the help of their top level pro-staff that includes Brent Ehrler, Cody Meyer, Ish Monroe, Andy Montgomery, Seth Feider, Randy Howell and Takahiro Omori.

Each of the rods are technique specific and were built with the help of the Daiwa pro who is best known for that type of fishing. Every detail of the production was left up to the pros from handle length, action, length, guides and more. These rods are dialed in exactly to their specifications.
