One of the leading fishing line manufacturers did not release a new fishing line at ICAST, but they were still busy.
The 2017 ICAST showed P-Line releasing lures, tools, and nets designed for bass, striper, and saltwater anglers.
The addition of several new saltwater lures may excite anglers who chase stripers on the California Delta and other places across the country.

Striper Lures
P-Line makes a whole host of lures from spoons, soft plastics, squids and bottom fish rigs. This year P-Line released two hard baits and a new grub that will be perfect for stripers, big freshwater predators, and other saltwater species. The lures are jerkbaits that can be cast or trolled and they are built strong to withstand the vicious strikes of big fish.
P-Line Predator
The Predator is a deep-diving jointed minnow bait that can reach 12- to 13-feet when trolled with 100-feet of line at 3 MPH. It has a very loud rattling sound thanks to six, hollow stainless steel BBs inside the bait. For this year, P-Line introduced five new colors for the Predator.
P-Line Angry Eye Predator
The shallow-diving version of the Predator, this bait can be cast or trolled. It also comes in five NEW colors and has the same rattling sound thanks to the BBs inside. The bait is 6.5-inches, has three stout trebles and has an erratic action because of the jointed design.
P-Line Striper Worm Tails
These 6-inch soft plastic grubs are meant to be the trailer for a buck tail jig but would work equally well on a plain jig head. This is an old school design for striper baits and has a great action.
It comes in four colors: white, pearlescent glitter, chartreuse and yellow. They will come four to a pack and have a soft feel for good action but are durable enough to last for multiple fish catches.
P-Line Tools
P-Line also has a host of tools already on the market. They produce pliers, hook removers and other miscellaneous tools. This year they added a new set of aluminum pliers and a pair of compression cutters.
6-inch Aluminum Pliers
Everyone who goes fishing needs a set of pliers and this version comes with aluminum pliers, a lanyard and Cordura pouch. They are lightweight, comfortable and have a side cutter that is meant for cutting braided line.
8-inch Compression Cutters
These big cutters can cut through heavy hooks, thick leaders and just about anything else you need while fishing. The compression design gives them 60 percent more power to the cutting surface and the large grips make it easy to cut. They are made of carbon steel and come with a nickel-plated finish for corrosion resistance.

P-Line Acquired Beckman Nets (VIDEO BELOW)
Another area that P-Line has expanded to is a whole line of nets. They recently acquired Beckman Nets, a brand with a big following and years of success building quality nets. There are nets for everything from trout and panfish to large sizes capable of landing stripers, musky and big stripers.
There are several key features that make Beckman nets different: choice of handle length, flat bottom design, and netting material.
- Handles – Beckman nets come in a length of either 4 or 6-feet or adjustable lengths. The length options for adjustable are 4’-7’ or 6’9’.
- Yoke – The one-piece yoke is made of durable aluminum and is connected with stainless steel screws and washers.
- Quick Connect Channel – This feature allows for fast connection of the handle to the yoke of the net.
- Material – All of the Beckman nets have a coating that makes them better on the fish.
- Net Design – The coated and PVC nets have a flat bottom which reduces stress on fish prior to release.
- Hoop Construction: Most of their nets have an internal Y-Bar within the hoop to add strength and durability for years to come.
Still New P-Line Fishing Line
Last year they released the SS Fluorocarbon Leader, Tactical fluorocarbon, and XTCB Hi-Vis Braid. These are still new products as they have only hit stores at the end of last year.
- SS Fluorocarbon Leader – This leader was specifically designed for anglers fishing for salmon and steelhead. The fluorocarbon leader comes in 100-yard spools and was built to have abrasion resistance and knot strength.
- Tactical fluorocarbon – This line won an award at ICAST 2016 for the best new line. It is specifically designed to be more invisible than other fluorocarbons. It has excellent casting distance and abrasion resistance. It comes in 6 to 20lb sizes.
- XTCB Hi-Vis Braid – The XTCB is an eight-strand braid with tightly woven strands to increase smoothness, castability and abrasion resistance. The Hi-Vis yellow is great for anglers who like to watch their line for detecting light bites. It also has a Teflon Surface Protector for even more abrasion resistance and smoother casting.
P-Line is more than just line. They make a wide range of lures for species of fresh and saltwater fish and with the acquisition of Beckman nets; they have even more products for anglers.
