Clear Lake This Week 3/16/2015
Current conditions
Lake level is hovering around 4.5 Rumsey and the water is clearing quite quickly.
Morning surface temperature ranges from 56-58 degrees and afternoon temps have been reaching 65-67. It’s pretty obvious, Spring has sprung, and the fish appear to agree as the first wave has committed and are up building their yearly condos so to speak.
The Bite
Well, as usual, there are the haves and the have not’s. I’d say the average limits runs 14-16lbs, and the better bags push 30 lbs. Swim baits, Glide baits, Deep cranks, and LV500’s continue to lead the pack of contributors. That said, I would not overlook a square bill, or spinner bait for that matter, as both have been doing their fair share as well, as have live minnows. Big fish are still on the prowl and it could definitely happen on anyone’s next cast, so be prepared!
Where
Pick a spot. North, South, East, and West have all been producing about the same, only the techniques change slightly. Find some off shore grass or a stretch of deeper tules and you’ll find fish. Structure isn’t always rock, and or wood on this lake.
News
All ramps are open and operating, including Red Bud Park which has finally received their new docks, and security lighting. The ramps will remain open during installation, as is Clear Lake Bait & Tackle, which has also expanded. Simms, Megabass, Kincannon, and 6th Sense Glide Baits can now be purchased at the lake. Check em' out in person for yourselves!
