Mid-February, un-seasonably warm temperatures, and a lake that is at nearly full-pool, has created the "perfect big fish storm" for those that will be competing in the Coors Light Future Pro Tour's season opener taking place this weekend at New Melones reservoir.

FPT Classic front-runner and area native Josh Parris as well as many others that have been pre-fishing for this event, are locating roaming "wolf packs" of huge spotted bass, and finding success throwing baits that understandably won't be disclosed until after the event concludes.

In addition to a nice wad of cash top teams will receive for finishing well in an event that should see well over 75 teams, competitors will also be looking to draw "first blood", and accumulate points crucial to helping them secure one of only 100 berths available in the 2018 Coors Light Future Pro Tour Classic championship, presented by Gone Fishin' Marine, where the 1st Place team will receive the keys to a brand-new, fully-loaded Nitro Z18 powered by a Mercury 150hp OptiMax Pro XS, and valued at over $35,000.

Registration starts Saturday morning at 4am at Glory Hole Sporting Goods in Angels camp, where limited memberships of just $10 will be available for those that can only fish a few FPT events or simply want to try us out.

It's time to rumble central valley anglers..and get on the path that leads to a new Nitro/Mercury boat package, as the Coors Light Future Pro Tour rolls into New Melones for the "Calaveras Clash" and some big time fun!

See you there!
