More on the "giant Oregon Largemouth"

John Capers caught the giant and shared this info.

The moment I got the boat to the side of the boat it looked huge, we all thought I may have caught a 10+ pounder. That thought may have been influenced by how excited we were though. The scale read just over 9, and that's the weight I stuck with cause I'd rather down play a fish than exaggerate it.

I caught it on a big GP Custom baits football jig. It was caught on a large body of water in Eastern Oregon better known for its other fisheries.

We had already caught a handful of 5 and 6 pounders, and I had thought it was another one in that range until it surfaced maybe 15ft from the boat. Its head was huge and it tried to jump a few times but it looked like it was too big to leave the water. From that moment I was able to get it in pretty quick. It was by far my biggest bass.

I'd also like to thank Gary Posten of GP Custom baits for recommending the jig while we were on the water and Bobby Adams for taking us out that day.
