Cranford was sight fishing, scouting areas for Saturday's bass tournament on Arbuckle Lake when he spied the fish.
“I would have like to have waited a week (and caught the fish in the tournament), but she would have spawned out and would have went deep again by then,” Cranford said.
Cranford said he first caught a 5-pound male largemouth bass off the spawning bed, then the 14-pound femle pulled up on it.
“I thought she was a carp at first,” he said. “It's a freaking giant.”...
