LOSS OF A BEST FRIEND...AL McKNIGHT
Al McKnight was killed last night in a motorcycle accident in Tracy and his wife, Sue, is in critical condition at UC Davis .
For those of you that didn't know Al or BIG AL as we call him did my weigh-ins for the Hook tournaments for 12 years. He was a great dad and friend. Al has two grown daughters, Jenny and Maelissa.
Our prayers are with his familly.

Such a tragedy. Al will be missed in the community. Al was also the guy that used to deep fry the turkeys down at The Hook. My condolences go out to his family and we'll keep Sue in our prayers.

Sorry to hear about the loss-I didnt know him but I hate to hear of children being left without their dad.Hopefully his wife will be ok soon-the girls will need her to help get thru this. Its so strange to have someone there on minute then gone the next.....should make us all realize how lucky we are for loving wives, children and good friends. May he rest in peace.

Take a kid fishing, and don't forget about us older kids either..
Re: Not a good year.
That is terrible news. For those who did not have the pleaseure of meeting Al he was one of the nicest people you would ever meet. He was the person who you would never need to ask for help, he would always be there and the first to offer his assistence.
Out thoughts are with Sue for a full recovery and the girls in this tough time.
Gene, I will be in touch to see if there is anything I can do to help.

Crash kills Modesto man
Written by Tracy Press/Press staff report
One motorcycle rider is serverely injured and one is killed in a crash involving a Tracy man.
A 57-year-old Modesto man riding a motorcycle was killed in a crash Wednesday night on Chrisman Road near Highway 132.
The California Highway Patrol reported that a Tracy man pulled out of a Chrisman Road gas station parking lot at about 9 p.m. and failed to see three Harley Davidsons barreling down the road.
Two of the three motorcycles hit their brakes but couldn’t stop in time.
The Modesto rider was killed, and his 55-year-old passenger, a woman also from Modesto, was seriously injured. A 49-year-old man from Salida on a motorcycle also sustained major injuries. The third motorcycle rider managed to avoid the crash and was uninjured.
The 44-year-old Tracy driver suffered only minor injuries, according to the CHP, which did not identify anyone involved in the crash by name.

I never knew him but, if Gene says he's a stand up guy and he gave that much of his life to this sport we love, than we should all bow our heads for a moment. Gene my family and I will pray for his soul and his family. God rest his soul. DP

My prayers will be with Al and his family.
The latest word on Sue......
After being Airvak'd from San Joaquine to UC Davis, she has been stabalized, she's in and out of conciousness, has a tear in her heart, some fractured ribs and a broken leg. She is not out of danger yet and is being closely watched and monitored. Keep the prayers up folks!

Re: LOSS OF A BEST FRIEND...AL McKNIGHT
For those of who who don't know yet, Al and Sue McKnight were in a motorcycle accident on Wednesday night in Tracy. They were returning from a dinner ride and a woman in a pickup truck exited a 76 station and pulled out into oncoming traffic but her vision was blocked by a big rig parked on the side of the road. Three cycles hit the truck. Al was pronounced dead at the scene and Sue was choppered to San Joaquin General in critical condition. She was transported to UC Davis where she is now. Another rider was also seriously injured but we don't have any information on him. A third rider and the driver of the pickup were injured but released that night. Al has helped with our Hook, Line & Sinker weigh-ins and live well checks for the last 12 years. He and Sue recently moved to Modesto, but he still rode up on his cycle to help with the tournament. He was a great person and a good friend and will always be a "Hookrat" and in our thoughts.
