Travis Huckaby

AP Media Center-SACRAMENTO, Ca - The ability to exercise patience and the application of unwavering dedication is perhaps the most common of denominators you will find in any of the highly successful people you may encounter, and central valley angler Travis Huckaby, a dedicated and accomplished amateur level angler - who will be moving on to “pro-level” completion in 2012, knows that better than most.

Enjoying the fun of casual fishing throughout his youth, Travis did not begin his involvement in competitive bass fishing until approximately 2006 where he began testing his competitive skills against others in team formatted venues throughout northern California, such as Won Bass, 100% Bass, Angler’s Choice, and Future Pro Tour events to name a few, finding a good measure of success in each.

His patience and dedication began to pay off in 2009, as his decision to narrow his focus and efforts to fishing just one trail (FPT), significantly increased his success ratios allowing him to “break away” from the pack and post consistent performances at just about every event he would participate in.

Pressing forward with dogged determination, Travis teamed with newcomer Benny Broom of Modesto (grandson of central valley legend Don Payne), and their hard worked earned them the 2010 Future Pro Tour Navionics Cup title for the central valley , and most recently, the prestigious Future Pro Tour Angler of the Year title for 2011.

Having fished Future Pro Tour over the past few years - with a great measure of success, Travis feels he is now ready to “step up” to pro-level competition in 2012, and will move on to participating in pro venues such as the FLW Everstart Series Pro-Am competitions - as a boater, where it is without a doubt he will join the ranks of other top Future Pro Tour graduates and champions, such as Justin Lucas, Jason Milligan, Cody Meyer, JR Wright, and Roy Desmangles Jr , to become an “odds on” favorite to finish high in any event he enters.

Acknowledging Travis’s accomplishments, and angling prowess as a FPT competitor, Navionics Corp , the leader in electronic mapping technology, has appointed Travis to a full Pro-Staff position for 2012, and will partner with him to help maximize his angling efforts and help support some of the financial challenges he will encounter as he engages higher level competition.

Please join us in congratulating central valley angler Travis Huckaby on his “moving on” to the next level, as well as his appointment to the Navionics pro-staff. He has proven once again that hard work coupled with dedication truly pays off.
