I’d run away without even seeing the boat. Sounds like you gotta BOAT (break out another thousand) right off the bat. Check out the 98 Basscat Jaguar in here. That looks like a clean well kept boat with some nice upgrades.

Re: Knots
Kelly I tie a palomar or a single trilene with the tag passed back thru to get the hook to stand out. A palomar on 6# Sunline FC to 20# Power pro and 1/0 gammie rebarb hook yielded a 9lb12oz bed fish for me last year in and out of brush so that makes me a believer. I used the trilene (single and dou...

They won’t open Capell until the water comes down past the over flow level. Few more inches coming this week and it’s still spilling over by a foot. Probably won’t see it open for a few more weeks.

I called late Thursday when it was roughly 2.5’ over the GH and was told the ramp will not open until water recedes down and they can get a crew to set the dock back up(TBD). You can launch a yak but not a boat.

It’s another approach on max depth and time at that depth but on certain areas of Berryessa I’ve had pretty good luck with long lining a 6XD. I can get that thing to 20’ with more trolling motor then cast. Give it a good huck let a a$$ load of line out and get it to where you want it. I’m going afte...

Re: Looking for a telescopic butt crank bait rod
Look into a salmon/steelhead rod. Glass or glass/composite would be the way to go. I tried a BPS 8’6” graphite rod with 6XD on 10# line and 8XD on 12# line and it was not forgiving. Rattled my arms all the way to my shoulders. Glass is a lot softer and loads up perfectly during the cast. Don’t get l...

I have neither of those rods but I do have a Dobyns 867. I throw my 11” Hiro trout (9oz.) and a few others with ease. It loads up perfectly for long casts and acts like a crank bait rod being parabolic. Very forgiving to the bait also during casts. Good luck!!

I’ve been there once in Dec 2017 when I bought my boat from a guy down that way. It was super cold and the bite was pretty good up shallow. We only fished for a few hours and caught a bunch of spots on the muddy flats and points on a Neko rig and drop shot. Real easy drive to the lake also.

Thank you! So I just match my braid and flouro/mono pound test equivalents? If fishing 50# braid, my leader would be 12# flouro/mono on a bait caster. Not necessarily. This is what I use for a plethora of applications. 10# braid to 6# floro 20# braid to 8-10# floro 30# braid to 12-16# floro 40-50# ...

Re: Looking for an all around fishing line.
Depending on what type of fishing you’re doing I’d recommend braid with mono or floro leader when needed. One size of braid can cover many applications. Keep some of the tattered line on your reels, buy a few 600yd spools of line that’ll fit your applications and fill em up. I use a lot of 40# braid...
