Report: A foggy morning launch at 6AM with maybe 4-5 boats already at the marina. Finally ---! A decent day at Lopez. Fisihing buddy and I headed towards the bridge and elected to stop about mid-way and toss top water. A few blowups but nothing great partner hit on a decent LG on a senko but it was off at the boat. Headed to sandflats and topwater again. Score!!Partner brought in a nice 5+ and I hit a solid three on a whacky senko. Pulled in three more and headed to Vasquez. Pulled a few off the bank, chnged up to a RootBeer Hula and the day went nuts from there. We nailed close to 30-40 fish with several in the 3-5 pound range all large blacks with one very nice 3# smallie I took on the RootBeer grub. Wind up about 11AM making it cold with the heavy fog. Fog lifted around noon with some sunshine.
      City: SM

Tips: Fish were mostly near the shoelne in 3-6 foot. Hula Grubs in Rootbeer & Pmpkin blk flk,Robos in Oxblood and Arrons Magic were taking quality fish all morning long.

Report: A practice visit to Magri ... Water was like 'bathtub' warm! Hit the flats by the dam tossing into weed lines with senkos and hula grugs. Saw lots and lots of fry bass in the very clear water. Partner and I both located several 'old' beds with nothing near it but smaller fry. Did see one good cruiser in the 4lb range but reapeated nose drop with four or five different baits proved fruitless. Headed to the back in the narrows with dropshot and finally pulled in a few dinks - - nothing to write home about. Saw three or four boats pull out and two we chatted with had same answer -- Nothing Bitting! Temperature was WARM and finally a little wind came in which was very welcomed. Saw my old partner and he said the same -- Had one keeper and lots of small fish.

Tips: Going to be hard figuring this one out...

Report: A trip to the pez with my good neighbor fishin buddy. Hiot Whittenberg with a big NADA.. Stopped at Sand point with same results. Headed to the back bu the last dock and started to finally hit in 4-6 foot range off the banks. Partner scored a decent 3+ and a few dinks, I finally pegged a decent 17 incher on a Pumpkin colored jig then busted another good 3+ on the opposite bank on the same setup. Slowed so we headed in about 10:30ish. A good day but pretty slow on the bite.
      City: SM

Tips: Watermelon Pump black flake Hula grubs, Pumpkin Jigs seem to get most fish.

      Water Temp: 68-75

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Visalia Bass had a tournament at Lake Kaweah on Saturday and 48 boats competed. Fishing was pretty good and most teams produced limits. The winning weight was an incredible 23lbs+ with second place weighing in a limit of over 16lbs. Both of those teams had huge kicker fish to go along with an otherwise solid stringer. An 7-8lb limit was middle of the road. Fish were literally caught all over the lake. The lake is at nearly maximum capacity and patience will produce fair numbers of bass, which can be found shallow.

Tips: Fish aggressively early in the morning and then slow down and fish shaded structure for your best chance to land a quality bass later in the day.

Report: Big change since Saturdays outing. Whittenberg coughed up a few decent keepers but a far cry from a few days ago. Fishing friend pulled a nice 5-6 with a small swim near the rock pile in Whittenberg and like me, a few on a dropshot.

Cloudy, overcast and foggy. Was down right chilly till about 11ish.
A few takers at the bridge but no keepers. All smaller fish
      City: SM

      Water Temp: 65.3

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: A short trip to the pez to check out a new trolling motor.. SWEET! Holds in the wind like I needed. This Tour edition Motorguide Digital 82# is the ticket!

Hit Whittenberg east wall stickups with a top water and scored three right off the bat. Nice 3-5 pounders! Tossed a blade towards the backside around stickups with only two takers. Went back to the weeds and threw a whacky senko scoring four more in the 13-15" range. Moved off to Vasquez east walls and hit a few on hula grubs before calling it a goo day.. Nice outing. Wind was out a little but warm conditions.
      City: SM

Tips: Whittenberg fish were all in the 4-5 foot range for the top water and 6-9 feet with the Senko. Good solid fish. Healthy and hungry!

      Water Temp: 68

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished the CBC at Nacimiento. Day after cloudy with sprinkles so north wind to 25 MPH and being the Friday of Memorial Day holiday lots of boats by noon, more like a zoo. No topwater in the morning so by 10:00 am with no fish I went to a YUM Houdini worm and scratched up a very small limit, had to measure a couple. Since there was not reaction bite being a bluebird windy day after a front I went to a YUM Gonzo grub on a 1/2 oz football jig and culled three of my squeekers to weigh a limit for 5.96 lbs. Lots of small fish but only about 12 keepers for the day. This is not a normal spring for Nacimiento, San Antonio or Santa Margarita. All these lakes are either full or 20 feet higher than the high water level the last 4 or 5 years. I think the combination of post spawn and alot of grass detiorating in the water has the ph off or something. The water is clear but has a sort of tea colored stain to it. A couple months ago I had 50 fish days when the fish were all over the flats and spawning but that's gone and the summer feed is just not on yet.
      City: Paso Robles

Tips: This is the best year for shad in a long time. Every pocket has bait in it. Some of it is over 3 inches long. The fish you catch are healthy and have little bellies on them so watch this lake in the next couple years. Fish finesse like drop shot, senko, texas rig worm or a small jig real slow on main lake points or pockets and you'll catch fish.

      Water Temp: 66.2

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: A fun day with two buddies as we erased going to Castiac for fear of high winds. Boy! High winds were the taste for the morning launch at the Pez. Headed to the stickups in Whittenberg with nothing to show, back to the bridge where one buddy boated a nice 3 pounder from the stickups on a Yum Dingger worm. Wind still howling like crazy. Elected to hit the walls in Vasquez, changed to a Grn Pump hula grub and pounded a nice large on 1st cast. Hit a good smallie on next few casts and we worked it to the back and out on the opposite side hitting some more decent fish. Winds dropped off so we hit the walls out of Vasquez towards dam. Hit some more good keepers before heading in at noon. Good day with friends...
      City: SM

Tips: Fish were closer to banks and in 8-15 feet.

Report: The lake could not fish better. My dad and I caught bass all day and lots of trout by accident. Three trout were over 20" with the biggest @ 22". All three were caught on a dropshot plastic worm. My dad played with the dinks all day on the dropshot and I ripped a LuckyCraft deep staysee in 20' of water for bass from 2-3 pounds. The ripbait bite never quit despite high sun and warm temps.
      City: Oakhurst

Tips: If you want to catch fish or have kids you want to get hooked on fishing, I can't imagine a better place right now.

Report: Tri Valley Meet -- 39 boats on hand -- Foggy start but sun out and a warm 84o by weigh in. Last boat out as we pulled the 'calling boat' draw [payback from 1st out last time]. Hit the banks and coves and partner scored a crank fish on 2nd cast but it bailed off early. Moved off to some other coves near Snake Creek and scored a nice 16" on a Baby Bass Senko. Nothing hitting on cranks so picked up the dropshot rod. Scored - scored - scored. Five casts, 3 spots. Robo Oxblood red flake in the mudline was workin! Had a limit by 11:45 but could not cull any. Everything after 12 was too small. In with 6, and one floater [drats!] for a 7.48 on the day. One guys in weigh line had a beast large mouth in the sack and would go at least 5 if not a 6 pounder. Tied everything down and headed home. Still, a decent day.
      City: SM

Tips: A tip for Tri Valley fishers. Get a Black fish bag! ********************

All except one keeper was on dropshot in the mudlines close to banks. One jig fish was and a few on Chigger Craw shaky head

Report: Finaly got a boat and hit the lake. Bass have yet to spawn. Trout trollers were all doing well. I was skunked for 5 hours until the wind picked up and I limited (released) in 30 minutes on a blade. Sherrif was laying bouys all day and we all know that means goodbye Bass lake 'till fall.
      City: Oakhurst

Tips: Fish from shore, the Sherrif is in the water. The budget is tight and he needs to write tickets.
