You can head toward Frank's Tract or Potato Slough. I've fished the Mokelumne shoreline all the way down to where it meets the San Joaquin and have done pretty good.

Dressed Treble Hooks

For those of you that like to use dressed treble hooks on their lures, I found a company, Villlage Tackle, in Michigan that makes them. They are having a $0.99 sale on many of their dressed hooks (Eagle Claw [2X hooks - 3 to a pack] and Owner [4X hooks - 1 to a pack]) until May 15th. If you spend ov...

Re: Salmon in the deadend sloughs

Hitman, When the salmon move into the fresh water for spawning, they will not eat at all. The only reason salmon will hit lures when you are tossing/jigging them in their general area is that you piss them off so they will strike out at the lure. I've run into schools of salmon in dead end sloughs t...

Re: old trolling motor question

Have you checked the water level on the battery? My cousin was having the same problem and we checked the water level. A couple of the cells were dry and others were not full. Once we filled them, the trolling motor ran longer. Also, we let the battery charge until we take the boat out of the garage.

Before you hit the water, you'll pay close to $15.00 in fees for the car/boat. In addition, each person has to pay a $4.00 fishing fee. Of course, there's no guarantee you'll catch. I would go to the delta too.

Re: How do I avoid water skiers/wakeboarders in the Delta?

It's hard to avoid them this time of the year. If you fish weekdays, there's normally fewer water skiers/wakeboarders out there. Picking narrower sloughs or sloughs with a lot of bends will help, but not always. Here's two personal experiences with water skiers/wakerboarders/weekend cruisers in the ...

You can fish Montezuma Slough. The water in that area is brackish so bank fishing will be fishing for striped bass or sturgeon. Follow Grizzly Island Road out of Fairfield/Suisun City area. Keep driving until you come to Montezuma Slough (you'll have to drive about 5 miles through the country once y...

I do it to maintain the tension on the line so that I can control the fish as well prevent the fish from unhooking. Each time that a fish turns, I swing my rod to the opposite direction that the fish is moving. This allows me to instantly turn the head of the fish if I need to, especially if the fis...

It depends upon what I'm mainly fishing for. For black bass, I use a Lamiglas XCF705R and Shimano Curado reel with 65 lb braid. I love fishing the trash fish over weedy areas so that's why I go with braid. For stripers, I like to swim the trash fish faster so I use a Powell 735MH with a Quantum Ener...
