Re: Top Water Ratio??

I have an old reel that is 4.4 to 1 that I like for Chug Bugs and Zara Spook type baits. It allows a bit more turn in the handle between walks and lets the bait coast a bit more before getting twitched the other way. I feel like I am fishing the bait with less contact or loose out there vs. being ti...

Dammit Andy I still remember how to adjust the paper graph to get the most out of the display too. And flashers....you bet no problem putting them on the boat and fishing with them tomorrow. Funny Mike Van Wagner took a boat in trade the other day with a paper graph and flashers and he told some of...

Re: Darter head baits?

One cool thing you can get with a dart head and a tube, is a spiral sink. The bait will make a circle on the way to the bottom. You might have to fiddle with the rigging a bit to get the right action. Its a good thing around docks, or dock fingers. One other neat feature to a dart head, is if its to...

Felt old all of a sudden, Paper Graphs!

This morning paper graphs popped into my head. They were awesome for detail, and you could study the paper later in the garage when changing the rolls out. And guys did not turn them on too much, because they did not want use up all the paper. Which was ironic, and I thought at the time stupid becau...

Re: Hey Cooch, is there a Delta 'turnover'?

When guys start thinking turnover, they are also thinking thermoclines. And they exist, on the rivers. But not how a guy might think like on a lake. A great example would be a dead end slough, and where the tide meets the water that stays in there. You can get an area where two different water temps...

There is another anecdote I have to add to this string, one year a guy and his partner (Not really, it was a seperate type draw event.) had 20+ plus in each side but the big motor crapped out. They got towed in late and were allowed to weigh in a club event on the Delta. They won. Funny part was the...

I can add one thought, many of the hard bait molds will have to reworked or scrapped as steel takes up more space than lead for ballast weights. A round steel bearing won't have the weight as the lead one it was designed for. That would change the lure performance considerably. It would take away so...
