The 2022 CDFW Wildlife Officer Academy

The 2022 CDFW Wildlife Officer Academy, Class 65, began this past Monday with 25 cadets. These trainees will undergo a regimented 30 weeks of full-time Law Enforcement and Wildlife officer training which includes classroom instruction, firearm training, emergency vehicle operations, arrest and control, and much more. This group of cadets, including seven women, representing communities throughout California, will learn the skills necessary to safeguard California’s fish, wildlife, and the habitats upon which they depend. As this first week comes to an end, we wish all this year’s cadets well on their journey to becoming California’s next wildlife officers – a rewarding career that makes a difference.

Also this week, CDFW’s Law Enforcement Division Chief David Bess swore in and badged the newest addition to the force, peace officer lateral transfer Warden Cole Helm. Welcome to the family!
