35th WON Bass, Bass Cat Boats Mercury U.S. Open Starts Monday October 16, 2017

Costa Live Show Brings Action to Fans in its Sixth Year

Las Vegas, Nev. –  Beginning Monday October 16, 207 professional anglers and their AAA partners will blast off onto the waters of Lake Mead to contest The WON Bass Bass Cat Boats / Mercury U.S. Open of Bass Fishing.  As it has for the past five U.S. Opens, the Costa See What's Out There Live show will be presented by Costa Sunglasses throughout the entirety of the three day event.

In its 35td year, the U.S. Open has proven to be a world class bass fishing event that is no easy tournament to conquer. The last angler who can hold on to their seat in the Costa See What's Out There Hot Seat on Wednesday's final day will be crowned the U.S. Open champion.

The 2017 field has broken the record set last year for the largest field in the modern history of the event with 207 professional anglers and their AAA partners signed up to compete in the three day event on Lake Mead. As with any U.S. Open the field includes past champions, current and former tour level anglers and established Western pros who will create fireworks throughout the event.

With the record field, and the addition of Bass Cat Boats as a partner to the U.S. Open, the payout for the event should be one of the riches in the history of Western tournament fishing history. The pro angler who outlasts the competition this year will receive the keys to a 2018 Bass Cat Puma FTD powered by a Mercury 250 Pro XS outboard valued at $61,000. Couple that with the cash prizes, and the 2017 WON Bass U.S. Open awards should be quite impressive.

List of Competing 2017 WON Bass U.S. Open Pro Anglers

At press time, several of the anglers who currently compete on the Bassmaster Elite Series and FLW Tours have registered for the event.

Joining the B.A.S.S. contingent, the FLW Tour pros are also making their way to the desert for the event. 2015 champion Roy Hawk is confirmed, as are Hayabusa pro Kurt Dove, Bass Cat Boats pros Carl Jocumsen, Andrew Upshaw, Matt Stefan, Chad Randall, Randy Blauket, Jim Moynagh as well as Western based FLW Tour pros Jimmy Reese, Aaron Britt, Billy Hines and Gary Yamamoto.
