The goals of the California Invasive Species Action Week (CISAW) are to increase awareness of invasive species issues and encourage public participation in the fight against invasive species in California. Invasive species are organisms (plants, animals or microbes) that are not native to an environment, and, once introduced, will establish, quickly reproduce and spread, causing harm to the environment, economy or human health. The CDFW Invasive Species Program seeks to reduce the negative effects of non-native invasive species on the wildlands and waterways of California by preventing the introduction of new species, detecting and responding to introductions, preventing the spread of invasive species that are established, and collaborating with government agencies and other organizations.
