Bobby Lane Kids Fishing and Conservation Clinic

Yamaha Rightwaters, Yamaha Marine’s national sustainability initiative, sponsored Yamaha Pro Angler Bobby Lane’s “Kids Fishing and Conservation Clinic” at Camp Mack in Lake Wales, Fla., July 13. During the event, Yamaha Rightwaters representatives led a plastic bottle cleanup campaign and attendees collected more than 1,000 plastic bottles, which a local Boy Scouts of America troop sent off for recycling.

More than 100 young anglers attended Yamaha Pro Bobby Lane's Kids Fishing and Conservation Clinic, sponsored by Yamaha Rightwaters, where they learned proper casting techniques, how to tie common fishing knots and appropriate times to use different forms of baits.

“Educating children about environmental conservation is an important part of natural resource sustainability, and we applaud Yamaha Pro Bobby Lane for his efforts,” said Martin Peters, Division Manager, Government Relations, Yamaha U.S. Marine Business Unit. “Yamaha will continue to support initiatives like Bobby’s Fishing and Conservation Clinic as events like this underscore the Yamaha Rightwaters mission to improve marine habitats and water quality.”

More than 100 young anglers attended Lane’s clinic, where they learned proper casting techniques, how to tie common fishing knots and appropriate times to use different forms of baits. Attendees also heard seminars about boating safety as well as the impact of conservation and sustainability on the future of fishing.

“The response for this event has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Lane. “The clinic provided a great opportunity to teach the next generation of anglers some valuable lessons and instill in them a love of the outdoors at a young age. In the future, we plan to include seminars for both young freshwater and saltwater anglers.

“This clinic would not have been possible without the support from Yamaha, Guy Harvey®, Captains for Clean Water®, the International Game Fish Association® and the volunteers who dedicated their time to make this event a great success.”

Yamaha Pro Angler Hunter Bland was a special guest at the event and taught a boating safety seminar. Bland stressed the importance of always wearing a personal flotation device (PFD) on the water and using an engine shut-off safety cord attached to a PFD.

“There’s nothing more rewarding than equipping young anglers with the knowledge of boating and water safety,” said Bland. “Boating safety should be a top priority for all anglers and boaters, regardless of skill level. Making it back to the dock is the most important part of any day on the water.”
