Building the next generation of ethical anglers

As a member of the IGFA family, you know that developing the next generation of ethical anglers and environmental stewards worldwide is a vital component of the IGFA’s mission. Below are some highlights from our education efforts, made possible thanks in part to the contributions of anglers like YOU.

100,000 Youth Education Initiative
Teaching 100,000 youth around the world to fish

In 2018, we set an ambitious goal of teaching 100,000 youth around the world how to fish ethically. In June 2022, the 100,000th child was taught during our IGFA Day celebrations. Although the initiative is complete, the work will continue around the world to establish future generations of ethical anglers.

Passports to Fishing Program
Developing and distributing turnkey “fishing clinics in-a-box”

Since its launch in 2019, the IGFA Passports to Fishing program has been our primary hands-on education resource reaching 40 countries in just four years, and teaching over 15,600 youth. To date, 155 kits have been distributed with plans to distribute another 25 kits in 2023 to at least five new countries.

Online Educational Resources
Digital learning opportunities to educate and inspire

The IGFA continues to receive positive feedback about our Intro to Fishing online course, a course that has reignited the passion for fishing in some and has helped others learn the basics of our beloved sport. The IGFA plans to create additional online learning resources including a Fishing the United States virtual field trip series and an Intro to Fly Fishing course.

Strategic Partnerships
Partnering with leaders in youth angling education

The IGFA continues to work with respected national and international organizations that specialize in educating youth on recreational fishing and the importance of conservation. These efforts help provide resources and opportunities for youth and their families around the world to get outdoors and recreate responsibly.

Your gift of any amount will help us continue our mission, but when you give just $50, you will receive an IGFA logo Bluefin USA face mask, and when you donate $100 or more, you will receive the mask and a new edition IGFA hat of your choice. PLUS, thanks to a matching gift, your contribution will be matched dollar-for-dollar until December 31, 2022.

Jody, as we near the end of 2022, please consider contributing to the IGFA to help us continue working to ensure the future of the sport in 2023, and beyond.

Thank you,

Jason Schratwieser
IGFA President
