Cabela's School of Year Race led by Bethel University

Bethel University Moves into First in the Cabela's School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia Race

Adrian College now in 2nd and LSU-Shreveport moves up to 3rd

SAN ANTONIO, Texas- With just over seven (7) months and over twenty events now completed, Bethel University has taken over the lead in the season long quest to be crowned the best fishing team in the nation. The bass team from Adrian College drops down into second place, while Louisiana State University-Shreveport moves into the third place position.

The Bethel University Bass team has long been recognized as one of the top college fishing programs in the nation at events all over, and have often finished in the top 10 in the Cabela's School of the Year rankings, however they've yet to win the hardest title in college fishing to date.

"We are very proud to be back at the top of the list for the ACA Cabela's School of the Year. The school of the year is one of only few achievements that has alluded the Bethel Wildcat Bass Team and to win, especially with the huge amount of competition in college fishing, would be huge for our team and our program," said Garry Mason, Coach for Bethel University.

Bethel University hadn't fished an event since September, but reemerged in November to fish the Murray State Fall Invitational. The team of John Garrett and Brian Pahl fished the event bringing 22.90lbs to the scales and taking the win, giving them 50 points to add. With no other events taking place until the new year, it'll be interesting to see what Bethel's strategy will be heading into the Spring events.
