As in the past, the winners of each event will receive a guaranteed first place prize of $1,500, based on a full field of 125 teams. The tournament purse will offer a one in five payback (one place for every five paid entries) and will also include great prizes to teams finishing just out of the money. Additionally, the lucky angler catching the largest bass at each tournament will receive a brand new Phenix fishing rod.
During last summer’s J&T Tackle Night Team Tournament Series, Tim Grinolds and Sean James of Simi Valley won two of the four events with phenomenal record setting five-fish limits that weighed 46.06 pounds and 41.84 pounds respectively. Grinolds and James finished last year’s series with a record $8,525 in cash and merchandize.
The entry fee for each 2003 J&T Tackle Night Team Tournament Series event is $125 per two-person team. There will again be four side option pools available at each event, a $20 Big Fish option which pays back to the three largest bass at each tournament, a $10 and a $20 Top-3 option which pay back to the top three highest placing teams that are entered in each option, and the popular $20 “All American” option in which entering teams are randomly drawn into one of three color groups, the red, white, or blue. The highest placing team in each color group wins 1/3 of the total option pool. All options will be paid back 100%. Each tournament will have a 125-team limit and the starting order for each event will be determined by a random drawing at the 5:00 p.m. meeting. Late sign-ups (space permitting) will be accepted at the Lake Casitas snack bar on the Saturday afternoon of each event from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. No entries will be accepted after 5 p.m., or once the 125-team field is filled.
The 2003 J&T Tackle Night Team Tournament Series will again feature its popular “Heavyweight Award” for teams that fish all four tournaments. The Heavyweight Award offers additional cash to the three teams with the heaviest combined total weight from all four tournaments. Teams must fish all four tournaments to be eligible for the Heavyweight Award.
