Christmas Gift Guide | Swimbaits
Fisherman's Warehouse presents the Swimbait Gift Guide for the Angler in Your Life
Swimbaits have been around for years on the West Coast and now are among the most popular lure types everywhere. They catch giant bass and are now available in all sizes, not just jumbo trout imitators. The following list includes them all from finesse-sized baits to those used to trick monster bass.
AA’s Bad Bubba Shad - $3.49
The AA’s Bad Bubba Shad is a proven boot tail design, and it can be fished in a variety of ways. The simple design and low price make them an excellent choice for bass, striper, and saltwater anglers.
Some of the best ways to fish it are to add it to a jighead, but it also fits nicely on swim jigs and ChatterBaits.
Z-Man Diezel MinnowZ - $4.99
Another low-cost option, this 4” bait works excellent on a jighead and is also one of the better ChatterBait and swim jig trailers. Plus, it is made of ElaZtech and extremely durable.
Keitech Swing Impact - $4.99
Most bass anglers know about Keitech and how well the Swing Impact Fat baits work. The standard Swing Impact is much thinner but still catches bass like no other. The swimming action is a little different than the fatter version, but it works just as good and may give the bass something else to see when everyone else is throwing the other version.
Megabass Magdraft - $12.99-24.99
This line of swimbaits from Megabass is top-quality and priced pretty good for what they are. This brand is known for making some of the most detailed and realistic lures, and this swimbait is no different. It comes in plenty of excellent colors and several sizes to make it a good choice no matter where you live.
Ima Glide Fluke - $14.99-18.99
This lure is part fluke and part glide bait and has a unique action during the retrieve. It comes in both a 125mm and 178mm size and in both sinking and floating. The sinking version, in my opinion, is much more versatile, and there are plenty of different ways to use this bait to get bit.
Huddleston 68 Special - $25.99
The Huddleston name needs no introduction in bass fishing, and these swimbaits have been responsible for countless double-digit bass and new personal bests. A good all-around sized bait is the 68 Special that will still catch giants but isn’t too big for some parts of the country.
The 68 special is a 6” bait with the tail of an 8” bait for excellent thumping action on the retrieve.
Storm Arashi Glide - $37.99
Pro angler Brandon Palaniuk loves throwing big glide baits and has been working on this lure for years. The finish, gliding action, and overall package are all excellent. Add into the fact that it is one of the most “affordable” glide baits on the market, even though it is still expensive for a fishing lure. Palaniuk made sure that no detail was overlooked, and the result is the Storm Arashi Glide.
Swimbaits continue to evolve and become more popular, but they continue to catch bass every year. The baits listed above fit several price ranges, budgets, and ways to use them. Every one of them will help you catch more swimbait bass.
