Chronicling angling achievements is the cornerstone of IGFA

Since our inception in 1939, recognizing angling achievements has been at the foundation of the IGFA. Now, more than 80 years later, we continue to celebrate and recognize incredible angling achievements from all over the world. Chronicling angling achievements is the cornerstone of our organization, and we continue to expand in that role. Here are some highlights from the past year:

World Records
We processed 548 IGFA World Record applications from 42 different countries across the globe. We also added 30 new eligible species to the popular All-Tackle Length World Record category!

Slam and Trophy Clubs
Last year we also saw increased participation in IGFA Slam & Trophy Club programs with 159 Slams and 24 Trophy Clubs awarded.

IGFA Tournaments
We held the inaugural IGFA Mediterranean Championship in Italy this past July. This successful tournament joined the returning IGFA Light Tackle Open, IGFA Permit Invitational, and IGFA SoCal Swordfish Open.

Annual Awards
We recognized the achievements of many industry greats through our 2022 IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame Induction and Tommy Gifford Awards ceremonies. These important IGFA events recognize those who have helped shape the sport as we know it.

Your gift of any amount will help us continue our mission, but when you give just $50, you will receive an IGFA logo Bluefin USA face mask, and when you donate $100 or more, you will receive the mask and a new edition IGFA hat of your choice. PLUS, thanks to a matching gift, your contribution will be matched dollar-for-dollar until December 31, 2022.
