One good thing about cold weather... okay, make that the BEST thing about cold weather, is that rainbow trout love it. And we love fishing for rainbow trout! So around Thanksgiving each year we begin trout stocking all over Texas.
Fishing makes for a fun family experience, so take grandma and the kids to a Neighborhood Fishin' location to reel in some rainbows – it's the perfect way to get kids started fishing.
Dozens of ponds and creeks around the state are being stocked with up to 3500 trout per site.
There's no size limit and the bag limit is 5 daily per angler.
- Trout anglers will need the $5 Freshwater Fishing Stamp, which is included in all freshwater license packages. Anglers under 17 years of age are not required to have a license and don't need to purchase a stamp. More about fishing licenses and stamps.
- Licenses and stamps are not required when fishing within a Texas State Park.
