Fish Attractors in Texas Reservoirs

Experienced anglers know that fish like bass, crappie and sunfish are attracted to underwater structure. Unfortunately, Texas reservoirs typically have little of it. Thus fish condos were born, manmade fish attractors that are placed into reservoirs at strategic spots in order to improve angling success.

Built and deployed by Texas Parks and Wildlife and their community partners, attractors are built from inexpensive materials like cinder blocks, bamboo, trees and plastic pipe. The goal is to make condos that will attract loads of fish that you can angle for without snagging your line.

How do you take advantage of this fishy housing boom? Find a reservoir near you that has had fish attractors added. There are GPS coordinates for the attractors available, as well as maps showing their approximate locations in some of the reservoirs.

The condo projects would not be a success without community volunteers. If you know of a reservoir in Texas that would benefit from the addition of fish attractors, or to learn how you can get involved in building and installing them, please visit Friends of Reservoirs.
