Fishing's Future Earns Aquatic Education Award

Fishing's Future named #1 in America:

The 2016 Roland Sigurdson Outstanding Aquatic Education Program Award was presented to Fishing's Future on October 29, 2016 naming Fishing's Future as the #1 Aquatic Education Program in America by the Aquatic Resources Education Association (AREA). Founder, Shane Wilson was ecstatic at the recognition! "This honor belongs to every Fishing's Future volunteer, sponsor, and supporter. Having the passion to give the gift of fishing to others is rewarding itself, but to receive the prestigious Roland Sigurdson Aquatic Education Program Award is flat out FANTASTIC!" beams Wilson. This year alone, more than 115,000+ individuals have received some level of fishing knowledge from Fishing's Future and a staggering 15,000+ volunteer hours have been logged. It is no wonder they are #1.

Over the last several years, Fishing's Future has introduced more than 600,000 individuals to the joys of fishing and that number continues to climb. Now they need your help. As a volunteer, non-profit organization, FF receives inquiries daily to form new partnerships, open new chapters or schedule more events. Donations from corporations, foundations and private individuals keep Fishing's Future afloat but more sponsors are needed as the organization grows. The everlasting affect this program has on youth and their family are life changing as expressed in this testimony.

"For my family, Fishing's Future introduced the rest of my family, particularly my seven year old son, to fishing and the outdoors. In the modern days of technology, fishing and the outdoors are not nearly important to today's youth as smart phones, tablets, video games and TV. Fishing's Future opened up new doors to my family and son and made them realize that there is a world of adventures outdoors to be explored. Although I'll probably never be able to get my son completely off today's technology, he at least now looks forward to fishing and getting outdoors when he can."

Fishing's Future has well over 50 chapters scattered across America and over the next 5 years, they expect to double in size. At the rate they are growing and the national recognition they are receiving, Fishing's Future is sure to become a household name.
