FLW Outdoors Fantasy Fishing Challenge kicks off 2007 season

New league play, guaranteed cash prizes and an all-expense-paid trip to the Forrest Wood Cup just some of the wrinkles in store for this year's participants

Are you an avid follower of the Wal-Mart FLW Tour? Do you enjoy playing fantasy sports with friends? Would you like a shot at $5,000 just for playing a simple game? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, consider signing up for the FLW Outdoors Fantasy Fishing Challenge. This fantasy-sports game - a staple of the FLWOutdoors.com experience - is back and even better than before.

Like last season, contestants will have a chance to win $5,000 cash during every fantasy fishing contest as well as other great prizes including FLW Outdoors memberships, hats, t-shirts and die-cast replica boats. However, this year all contestants will automatically be eligible for the new Grand Prize - an all-expense-paid trip for two to this year's Forrest Wood Cup.

Remember, you don't need a boat, fishing license or any in-depth knowledge of the FLW Tour to play the 2007 version of FLW Outdoors Fantasy Fishing Challenge. Nor do you need a big bank account, because playing the FLW Outdoors Fantasy Fishing Challenge is absolutely FREE!

Beginning immediately at FLWOutdoors.com, visitors will be able to sign up for the FLW Outdoors Fantasy Fishing Challenge [http://www.flwoutdoors.com/apps/fishingchallenge/index.cfm?utm_source=198&utm_medium=email] - a compelling interactive contest where fantasy-fishing skill could net you a handsome payday. The contest will be accessible through a banner ad midway down the FLWOutdoors.com home page throughout the season. Don't delay: Registration for the first challenge of the season - in conjunction with the FLW Tour season opener on Lake Travis - will end Wednesday, Feb. 14, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern time.

Big league brawls

Another new and exciting feature awaits FLW Outdoors Fantasy Fishing Challenge players in 2007 - the ability to form your own personalized fantasy leagues. Simply set up a league with your family, friends, co-workers - whoever you'd like - and let the jockeying for bragging rights begin as you exhibit your preeminent punditry skills.

Though you'll still be competing against all contest players from across the country for official prizes, the added enjoyment of competing against friends and family in personalized leagues should make playing this year's fantasy fishing challenge that much more memorable. Once you've established your league online, a link allows you to invite friends to join via e-mail, sending them all the information they need to get in on the fun.

It's easy to play

If you're played in the past, FLW Outdoors welcomes you back for another year of fan-based punditry. However, if you're uninitiated in the Fishing Challenge, getting set up and playing is easy. Here's how it works: Register online [http://www.flwoutdoors.com/apps/fishingchallenge/register.cfm?utm_source=198&utm_medium=email] for the FLW Outdoors Fishing Challenge; it's a quick process. Then simply click on the names of the pros from the Angler Roster [http://www.flwoutdoors.com/apps/fishingchallenge/index.cfm?t=roster&utm_source=198&utm_medium=email] who you think will place the highest in the next scheduled FLW Tour event. That group of five becomes your "Pro Team" for the next contest. If you want some great tips for coming up with hot picks, visit the Fishing Challenge Tool Box [http://www.flwoutdoors.com/apps/fishingchallenge/index.cfm?t=howto#Tool], a virtual treasure chest of prognosticating pointers.

If your Pro Team earns the highest total score among all Fishing Challenge contestants, you'll win a cool $5,000. Players can register for a chance to win the top award of $5,000 or many other great prizes [http://www.flwoutdoors.com/apps/fishingchallenge/index.cfm?t=prizes&utm_source=198&utm_medium=email] at each of the FLW Tour's regular-season events in 2007, so be sure to set up your Pro Team for each event. If you want to compete for fun against your friends, set up your own league [ http://www.flwoutdoors.com/apps/fishingchallenge/index.cfm?t=myGroup&utm_source=198&utm_medium=email] in the My Group section after logging in and then invite others [http://www.flwoutdoors.com/apps/fishingchallenge/index.cfm?t=friend&utm_source=198&utm_medium=email] to join!

Visit the Member Services [http://www.flwoutdoors.com/apps/fishingchallenge/index.cfm?t=services&utm_source=198&utm_medium=email] area of the contest anytime you need to update your profile, want to offer feedback, have frequently asked questions answered, or more.

For every fantasy FLW Tour event - Lake Travis, Fort Loudoun-Tellico lakes, Lake Norman, Beaver Lake, Potomac River and Detroit River - the top point scorer will win a guaranteed $5,000 in cash. While besting every other Fishing Challenge player is never an easy task, it's not the only way to win great prizes. In fact, the FLW Outdoors Fantasy Fishing Challenge offers 25 guaranteed prizes for the top-ranked participants in each contest. Contestants who finish in second through 25th place will receive valuable prizes including miniature die-cast boat replicas of official FLW Tour sponsor boats, FLW Outdoors hats and T-shirts, as well as free memberships to FLW Outdoors.

Consistency also will be rewarded handsomely during the 2007 version of the FLW Outdoors Fantasy Fishing Challenge. At the conclusion of the regular season of the FLW Tour, the player who has amassed the most points combined in each of the six fantasy challenges will win the Grand Prize - an all-expenses paid trip for two to the Forrest Wood Cup, slated for Aug. 2-5 in Hot Springs, Ark.

The game

At the conclusion of every event, contestants will receive point totals for each of their five selected anglers based on their real-life performances at the actual tournament. For example, if one of your five anglers won the FLW Tour event, you would be awarded 200 points for his or her performance - the same amount of points that angler will earn toward the 2007 FLW Tour standings. If one of your fantasy anglers finished in the runner-up position, you would receive 199 points. A third-place finish by one of your Pro Team members would be worth 198 points, and so on.

If you don't win the first time, you still have five more chances to win great cash and prizes in conjunction with the remaining FLW Tour events. So don't delay. Sign up now and test your fantasy-fishing savvy.

Remember, registration for the next FLW Outdoors Fantasy Fishing event on Lake Travis in Austin, Texas, ends Feb. 14 just before midnight.
