This includes everything from advertising, promotions and print production to media relations, exhibition coordination and website maintenance. Everyone from artists, writers, designers, media buyers, event coordinators, video producers/editors and public relations specialists work together to bring campaigns and product-centric promotions to life. We are looking for a full-time Sponsorship Marketing Specialist for our headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying, developing and implementing strategic sponsorship and promotional programs that give exposure to Garmin products and build awareness and value in the Garmin brand.

Candidates with experience or interest in outdoor marketing, hunting, hiking, dog training, overlanding are preferred!

Other essential functions include:

  • Work closely with marketing leaders to understand sales and marketing objectives in order to identify and pursue sponsorship, promotional, and event opportunities relative to each of Garmin’s markets
  • Manage the day-to-day responsibilities related to Garmin’s sponsorships, promotions and events
  • Work with company spokespersons and other personalities who support Garmin brand initiatives
  • Evaluate all unsolicited in-coming marketing sponsorship opportunities and act on those that are deemed relevant to Garmin’s marketing objectives
  • Attend and represent Garmin’s interest at sanctioned sponsor events
  • Evaluate and secure product placement opportunities through movies, television and other mass media/promotional outlets
  • Establish ROI goals for various activation components and track performance against objectives
  • Evaluate qualitatively and quantitatively each event/program and continuously improve measures of success

Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing, advertising, communication, journalism or another related field from a four year college or university.

Other requirements include:

  • Must possess a minimum of 3 years marketing activation and/or promotions execution experience
  • Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Willing to travel
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
