OK, in my last email I told you how I’d met Gary Moeller, one of the partners in Ballard’s Resorts in Minnesota and Canada. Well, life moves pretty fast and we’ve figured out a time to head up there. Pete and I will be at Ballard’s Black Island starting on Saturday, September 3, and departing on Wednesday, September 7. That’s Labor Weekend, which is probably good for some of you (one less day of vacation from work), and not so good for others — but for any of you who want to go, the great thing is that they’re offering us a special Holiday Rate of 35% off, which means the base is $910 for four nights, with three days of fishing. That may be the best bargain in all of fishing travel. |

Lake of the Woods is loaded with big smallmouths, trophy walleyes, toothy pike and muskies — you can fish for any or all of them in the same day. The package includes use of a boat and motor (a limited number of guides are available for an upcharge), lodging, food and non-alcoholic beverages. Even tackle is included. You need to get there (it’s about 6 hours from Minneapolis, or 90 minutes from the International Falls Airport), buy a fishing license, pay gratuities, and bring your own alcohol. We may even be able to arrange transportation from International Falls. |

While I have your attention, don’t forget that I also have spots left for our November 5-11 (2022) tuna (and marlin and mahi and cubera and roosterfish) BEATDOWN in Panama. It’s a little more expensive than the Canada trip, but they’re both going to be worth every penny. If you can’t decide, maybe go on both!!! |
