When a Local Fisherman Runs For Office

If you’ve been in the local tournament scene for any length of time, you probably will have run into Mario Gardea fishing pro/ams, teams or even running a circuit or specialty event like Mudville Bass and the Annual Police, Corrections, Fire Fish Off.

This year, the 20-year Stockton Fire Department Veteran has thrown his hat into a whole new ring – politics.

Definitely not as fun as fishing, but someone with a different outlook than the typical politician.

Campaign Platform

So, if you’re wondering what a lifelong county resident and local Delta angler’s platform sounds like, here it is:

  • Safer neighborhoods
  • Cleaner parks and streets
  • Working with our neighbors to fix our homeless problem

As a fireman, Mario has served the community for the past two decades. As a fisherman, he has enjoyed the community resource that we have in our own backyard and in his own words, here’s how he wants to further that:

“I have given my all to protect and serve the place, we call home. I’m running to become your next County Supervisor to continue that service. I’m not a politician, and a regular blue-collar son of Stockton, just like you. I’m running to bring our County back to the basics of how we govern.

Commonsense Basics:

  • To provide for safe communities that we can livework and play in
  • To fix our roads and sidewalks
  • To ensure we have employers that provide the kind of jobs you can support a family on

Mario has also been the President of Stockton Fire Local 456 and a former high school football coach. He has been married for 30 years and is a girldad of four. In his spare time he restores trucks and you may catch him at one of the Stockton Cruise Nights enjoyed by the community throughout the summer months.

Mario Gardea's run for County Supervisor is supported by:
