Tulsa,
Okla. – Lowrance —
a world-leading brand in fishing electronics since 1957 — confirmed today its continued No.1 position among
America’s fishing-tournament professionals, following Lowrance
Pro Team member Randy Howell’s first-ever Bassmaster® Classic championship, won on Lake Guntersville, Alabama
last weekend. In total, nearly 70 percent of the 55 Classic competitor field
used Lowrance fishfinder/chartplotters to outperform the competition and dominate
the 44th annual world championship of bass fishing.
In one of the most amazing competitions in
Classic history, Howell, of Springville, Alabama leapt from 11th place and a full
9 pounds behind leader and fellow Lowrance Pro Edwin
Evers on day two, to win the Classic Championship and a $300,000 payout on the
final day.
"My
Lowrance HDS12 Gen2 Touch with StructureScan
HD helped me find bass that were suspended off the sides of the rocky banks,”
said Howell. “I came back every day to see if they would bite and, on the final
day when it counted, they did!"
The number of Classic competitors using Lowrance fishing electronics increased to 38 this year
compared with 34 in 2013 — marking the company’s best representation in five years
and further extending Lowrance’s commanding position
among tournament pros. In the 2014 Classic, Lowrance
anglers placed first, second and third. In addition, four of the top five,
seven of the top 10, and 14 of the top 20 Classic anglers relied exclusively on
Lowrance electronics to lead the 55-angler field.
“Congratulations
to Lowrance Pro Randy Howell on
his dramatic victory at this year’s Classic; we are proud to support him with
our industry-leading electronics,” said Leif Ottosson,
CEO, Navico. “We designed the Lowrance
HDS to provide the ultimate in fish-finding performance and ease of use. Based
on the impressive list of top finishers using our product at the 2014 Classic,
we’ve delivered. We are committed to introducing even more innovative
technology this year for both professional and recreational anglers in fresh
and saltwater, and remaining the No. 1 choice for tournament anglers.”
