Staying connected to the Internet is as important on a boat as it is at home or in the office. Shakespeare®'s new WebWhip™ is a fully integrated, long-range Wi-Fi receiver that increases coverage of accessible hotspots up to 7 miles.
WebWhip creates a local hotspot on the boat for multiple users by connecting them to a standard Wi-Fi router. Easy to set up, the receiver can also plug directly into a computer and includes 25' of Ethernet cable. It features a 100+ Mbps throughput, and is compatible with the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi frequency and 802.11 b/g/n wireless standards.
The receiver has a powerful 28dBm receiver and a 5dB gain antenna to go with it, yet is energy efficient. WebWhip uses a mere 600mA at 12V DC that it draws from an AC adapter, or directly from the boat's auxiliary 12-24V supply. Its power over Ethernet design allows power and data to be carried to the receiver through a single cable. It comes with a DC power cord, AC adapter and power injector.
It's compatible with all computers and hand held devices. WebWhip is simple and intuitive to use, and has a web-based device manager. No software installation is required.
The splash-proof WebWhip comes complete with a versatile mounting kit. It will install on 7/8" to 2" rails, masts or even flat vertical surfaces.
Its compact size measures 19.5" L x 3" W x 1.5" D and weighs only 13.6 oz. Shakespeare's WebWhip comes with a two-year warranty and has a suggested retail price of $349.95.
